Introduction
A healthy biblical Church is a Church that is focused on helping God in making new
disciples of Christ, as well as helping disciples of Christ grow and go out into the world to make
disciples through the power of God. In this paper the author will present what a healthy Church
should be doing, where his home Church falls on the Traditional Attractional Hybrid Organic
(TAHO) chart, as well as how it stacks up, and role of the different part of the church.
What is a Healthy Church?
There is many types of Churches that have spung up all over the world in the last 50
years. Many of them are doing a good job making disciples that make disciples, while others are
just content with what they have and do not feel like they need to change. If one looks in the
book of Acts, he/ she will see a newborn Church that is growing by leaps and bounds because of
what the Holy Spirit is doing in and through this new thing called the Church. The new Church
was a united front as seen in Acts 2, they devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to
fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” (Ac. 2:42) Each one of these components an
important to a health church that is making disciples. While there were other things that went
into the growth of the first Church, this verse shows a simple receipt to healthy Church growth.
The author is a fan of keeping it stupid simple in all aspects of life, and the Church is not
different.
First, the Acts Church had devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles. This is not
to say that the apostles were teaching whatever they felt like teaching, rather, the disciples where
relaying to the Church what they were taught by Christ. They taught this Church the Gospel, the
death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. In Acts 6-7 the reader can see that Steven stood in front
of the Sanhedrin and told the whole story of Abraham all the way through Jesus. These are the
