Abstract
This paper will review Narrative Therapy as a family counseling therapy approach. Narrative
Therapy was a concept developed by Michael White and later inspired David Epston to continue
with expanding the approach. This paper will review additional leading Figures, development of
the theory/historical events, basic assumptions and key philosophy, key concepts, techniques,
similarities and dissimilarities, and new knowledge acquired by the author. The author will
continue by integrating personal faith and Narrative therapy. Finally, the author will complete the
online SYMBIS Assessment and provide the results of the assessment while integrating the
narrative therapy approach.

Narrative therapy is essential to counseling since it gives an individual the opportunity to
become experts of their own lives. During counseling, the individual becomes embraced in
stories about their own experiences and influences a how that can help them become the person
