Abstract
Solution-focused therapy is a constructivist therapy which is based on dealing with the client’s
problems and using the client’s strengths and resources. All problems discussed with solution-
focused therapy are from the client’s perspective which is reality for that client. Change in life is
constant and human beings have the opportunity to solve their problems without getting into the
emotional aspect. Solution-focused therapy seems to be a simplistic approach to solving
problems, but sometimes simple can be better. This paper discusses all aspects of solution-
focused therapy from who the developers were to if this therapy can be used in crisis situations.
Several interventions and techniques are discussed as well as the presenting problems of the
client. Christian compatibilities and incompatibilities of solution-focused therapy are, also,
discussed. Interestingly, there are many pastors that use this therapy in their ministries,
communities, and in their congregations. Depending on the therapist, Christianity can be used

with this therapy in many ways. Rituals such as birthdays, bar mitzvahs, and funerals are a few
instances that can add spirituality to the solution-focused therapy which are correlated to some
type of transformation or change in the client.

Solution-focused therapy is a good approach because human beings are capable of
change, and clients come in with certain capabilities and strengths that will help to solve their
problems. This theory is based on human perceptions about their lives and when problems occur
