Key Issues
Jef is a 33-year-old divorced Caucasian male. Jef currently works a full-time job in
construction. Jef is seeking assessments in counseling to keep his job.
Biological
Jef has been drinking four to eight beers daily. His consumption of beer varies if he is on
a job site or not on a job site. Jef has stated that his tolerance for beer has increased over the
past 18 months. Jef has expressed that his craving for beer has increased, and it is causing him
to lose his focus at work. Jef expressed that his is having a harder time recovering from a night
of drinking. Jef stated that he can go to sleep at 2:00am and wake up at 2:00pm the following
day. Jef comes from a family of alcoholic drinkers.
Psychological
Jef has expressed period of times where he felt sad every day. During those periods he
would lose interest in his normal activities, he would have difficulty sleeping, and feeling
hopeless. Even though he was sleeping a lot, he still felt fatigued. He has also had thoughts of
killing himself with a plan in mind. He also expressed that during those periods, he would lose
his appetite, which caused him to lose weight.
