REFERRAL QUESTION/REASON FOR TESTING:
Mrs. Client has been referred for evaluation purposes to assess if she will be a good candidate for
a Resident Assistant (RA) position at Liberty University. The nature of the position will involve
Client’s ability to act and adjust accordingly in a social and academic nature. She will also be
responsibly for helping students adjust, find their way around, helping with necessary resources,
ensuring that there is cohesion in the female dorms and helping maintain a safe and livable
environment for the female residents at liberty. Because this position requires time, commitment,
social skills, empathy and sensitivity to the matters of others, this assessment is necessary to
determine whether not Mrs.Client would be an ideal candidate for the position.

EXAMINEE BACKGROUND:
Mrs.Client is a 37 year-old Afro Caribbean female who is married with two children ages 8 and
15 months. She is appropriately dressed wearing a pair of brown slacks, white button-down
blouse and two-inch heels. She has great hygiene and is properly groomed. Client is average
height, approximately 5 feet 6 inches and appears to be slightly overweight. She has no concerns
about her weight or health status, although she claims it would be beneficial for her if she lost a
few pounds. Client’s youngest child was born with brain damage and requires special need care
of which is funded by the State. Her husband is active duty Army and is very supportive of her
endeavors. She complains of often feeling like a single parent with her husband’s frequent
deployments but states that she is active in her church and local military spouse support groups
that help keep her grounded. She currently works as an RN part time and is looking forward to
completing her MA in Clinical Counseling. She states that she goes above what is asked of her at
work and is usually the one that others count on to get things done and is aware of the physical,
emotional and spiritual demands that this position requires. She claims she is not currently under
physician or psych care for any health or emotional issues. While she tends to worry a bit, she
claims it is only about the welfare of her disabled child and does not let it affect her ability to
complete her work or tasks given to her. Overall, Client appears to be very energetic, honest,
eager to learn, social and friendly.

SUMMARY OF TEST RESULTS: IPIP-NEO
The IPIP-NEO is an assessment used to estimate a person’s level on each of the 5 broad
personality trait domains, and 30 sub-domains of the Five-Factor Model. It consists of 300 items.
Answers are provided according to a 5-point Likert-type scale. The numerical scores represent a
percentile estimate above other subjects of the same sex and age. Scores lower than 30 for a trait
or sub-domain are characterized as “low;” scores between 30 and 70 are identified as “average;”
and scores above 70 are labeled “high.”

Summary of Mrs. McCarter’s IPIP-NEO scores:
Mrs.Client’s score for the personality trait Extraversion was on the higher side. This shows that
she is very engaged with the external world and not afraid of expressing herself with her
thoughts and emotions. The test reveals that Client is a not reserved and not afraid of
experiencing new adventures. Furthermore, the test indicates that she has an agreeable nature
who takes the feelings of others into consideration. A high score of 98 shows that she is
conscientious, orderly and determined. Client’s scores also indicates that she is pleasant,
cheerful, very sympathetic. While Client worries, there is no indication that she has major issues
with anger, anxiety or depression, her scores indicate the typical reactions of a normal person
under everyday stressors. The last domain score of openness revealed that Client is open to new
ideas and adventurous.

Jung Typology Test (Based on MBTI)
The Jung Typology test is a 64-item test that measures preferences of attitude, preference of
function of perception, and the preference of function of judging. This test has 16 possible
outcomes for personality traits. The Jung Typology test measures an individual's personality type
that shows his or her strengths and weaknesses is several areas. MrsClient scored at 35 percent
preference of extravert than Introversion. 17 percent of Intuitive over sensing. Thinking at 18
percent over feeling and showed a 54 percent preference of judging over perceiving.
Beck Anxiety Inventory
The Beck Anxiety Inventory is a 22-item test the measures the levels of anxiety in an
individual. A sum between 0-21 indicates very little anxiety, while 22-35 shows signs of
moderate anxiety. Anything that exceeds 36 shows a high risk of anxiety. Client scored 5 on her
assessment for the Beck Anxiety Inventory. This indicates a low anxiety level based on the range
of 0-21.
Beck’s Depression Inventory
The Beck Depression Inventory is a 21-item questionnaire that scores the possibility of
depression. Client’s total score was 6. Anything scoring between 6 which is considered minimal
depression and normal moods. Scores above 30 would indicate that she had serve depression.
Client’s score was at the normal range.
PSYCHOLOGICAL IMPRESSIONS
Ms.Client is a very gregarious induvial who’s personally fits one who is friendly outgoing and
socially adoptable. Throughout the assessment she remained cheerful with a very pleasant
demeanor. Throughout the preliminary interview she was very attentive, answering question
without hesitation and without signs of deceit. She sees prides herself knowing that she is a
committed friend, family member, worker and extremely centered in her faith. Client shows
great enthusiasm, for the position as a potential RA at Liberty University.
Client strongly believes that her faith has been her main motivation factor and had led her into
making the right decisions morally in times of difficulty. She is a self-proclaimed extrovert
which has been collaborated by each assessment given to her as a requirement for this
Psychological Report. She values spending time with her family and friends and helping those in
need. She would rather spend her time reading a book, offering her services and giving back to
others then doing things for herself. She is an assertive individual who is not afraid to voice her
concerns or opinions. She does not exhibit signs of being easily stressed or anxious. With high
scores in her ability to lead and take initiative alone with extraversion all indicates that she is
outgoing, energetic, assertive and social which are all essential skills needed for the RA position
in which she is applying to.
The results of the IPIP-NEO, Beck Anxiety Inventory, Jung Typology and Beck’s Depression
Inventory all show clear indication that Mrs.Client is capable of taking on the position as an RA
at Liberty University. She shows no signs of anxiety or depression nor does she appear to have
issues working with others. She is friendly, agreeable, cooperative but also has a high intellectual

score which will allow her to relate and empathize with her peers. Additionally, her social skills
will allow her the opportunity to foster positive relationships which is vital for this position.
Mrs.Client indicates that she has strong positive leadership skills. She is very knowledgeable on
planning and would prefer not to procrastinate when getting the job done. Her ability to motivate
others while in a group shows that she is a natural leader who takes initiative. Ideally, this
coincides with her ability to respectfully take charge and direct those under her guidance.
Mrs.Client’s personality type on the Jung’s Typology test was determined as ENJT. These results
indicate that she naturally a leader and is able to direct those around her. Her natural ability to
lead and take charge has been proven over time in her current job as an RN. While
Communication style of a person with an ENJT personality type can determined as demanding,
they are also well mannered which is a perfect balance between the two. The ability to
effectively communicate is extremely important for the RA position. The results also indicate
that Mrs.Client is more likely a problem solver which is important as an RA there will be plenty
of presented opportunities in where she will be forced to find solutions or encourage those
around her to find solutions to issues that may arise. The test also indicates that Mrs.Client will
be comfortable working with others and as a team.
Client’s result for Beck Depression Inventory suggests that she has mild depression. Her final
score was 6 out of a maximum of 63 points. The initial interview and mental status did not
conclude that she suffers from Depression. She admits to sometimes feeling down when her
husband is gone for long periods of time leaving her to take care of the house all alone. This
score should not have an impact in her ability to function and there has been no previous
diagnosis of any mental illnesses or depression per our initial interview. There also has been no
known family history of mental illnesses or depression in her family.
Based on the results of the Beck Anxiety Inventory test, Mrs.Client presents a an extremely low
risk of anxiety with a score of 5 indicating minimal anxiety. This score indicates that Client
would be likely to handle high-stressed situations suitably without becoming overly anxious. She
will be able to handle situations that may arise without making emotional decisions and is likely
to handle stressful situations effectively.
Mrs.Client proven that she is an agreeable person with her high score on the IPIP-NEO
assessment. With this score, it is indicate that she has a keen interest in the needs of others. The
well-being of others is a priority for her, and she tries her best to help in any way possible. She
presents qualities would be a great addition to her time serving as an RA. She assessment deems
her as responsible, caring and genuine.
Additionally, her Beck Anxiety and Depression test indicated low levels of anxiety and
depression respectfully. She also scored high on dutifulness with is an indication that is keen on
obligation and promises. Her scores also indicate that she is good and planning and time
management. These are all great qualities that a RA should possess. She has a strong faith belief,
is committed to friends, family and others which would be great for the residents as she serves as
an RA.

CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS:
Mrs.Client a 37-year-old female who was referred for evaluation to determine whether she would
be an ideal candidate for the Resident Assistant position at Liberty University. She is married
and living with her husband and two children one of which has special needs.
She was given a series of psychological assessments to determine whether she was
psychologically able to do the job as an RA. These tests included Examinee Biography, IPIP-
NEO, Beck’s Anxiety Inventory, Jung’s Typology Test and Beck’s Depression Inventory during
the assessment.
Based on the results of all assessments it is the conclusion of this examiner that Mrs.Client is an
acceptable candidate for the Resident Assistant position at Liberty University.
a) Mrs.Client does have the ability and necessary skills needed to act and think
effectively in high stressed situations. She has been working as an RN for the past
10 years which has afforded her the time and training to work efficiently and
effectively in high stressed situations.
b) Mrs.Client also demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with
individuals as well as with a group which is a vital part of the position.
c) Mrs.Client has previous experience living on campus as she did for the latter part
of her undergraduate studies 10 years ago.
d) She has demonstrated that she can work well under pressure as well as think
quickly if a crisis situation arises.
e) Mrs.Client does not show signs of instability in mood nor does she show major
signs of depression or anxious behaviors.
This examiner recommends Mrs.Client as a strong possible candidate for the RA position at
Liberty University.
