Abstract
The following paper outlines a research design for the research question: Do parenting styles in
African-American cultures influence bullying behavior in children? The research study will use a
quantitive design, including a correlation approach. These approaches will allow the researchers
to analyze better the relations between parenting styles and their effect on children's social
development, which may or may not cause bullying behavior. Participants will be African-
American males and females between 13-18 from various Austin locations. The instruments used
in this study will explore the variables to see if there are definite associations between parenting
styles and adolescent bullying.
