Abstract
This paper branches off a study conducted by Nziroglu and collogues, who determined
what experiences and cognitions are common in adult children whose parents are diagnosed with
Hoarding Disorder (HD) Nziroglu, Upston, & Khemlani-Patel, 2020). While informative, I found
a gap in the study and literature, in where there is little research devoted to understanding the
clinical mental health diagnoses of these adults (Nziroglu, et al., 2020). Therefore, I propose a
phenomenological research study where adults (18+ years of age), who have parents diagnosed
with HD, disclose what clinical mental health diagnosis(es) they possess (Hepner, Wampold,
Owen, Thompson, & Wang, 2016, p. 388). This study will be offered only to those whose
parents have been diagnosed with HD, within their age bracket, and their parents are current
being treated at psychiatric offices/facilities. The purpose of this study is to glean a fresh insight,
from this community, in order to find the best treatment methods to help them as HD victims. A
Christian worldview is also given, to help elaborate on the spiritual and emotional connection
this type of study can bring.
