Self-Reflection and Evaluation with a Plan for Learning and
Improvement
The following is a reflection on the skills and techniques that have been taught during
this class and the evaluation of self during and after an intensive week of practicing the skill set
that has been taught. It is a challenge replacing old habits, but with much work, lots of practice
and God nothing is impossible. It is my determination to move forward in faith knowing that I
can improve my skills and help others find emotional healing.
Feedback Received
The feedback that I received from my supervisor and peers was helpful they pointed out
the positive and negative. They all were very encouraging even if I did not use the skills that had
been taught. I learned several things about the way I listen and speak. It was helpful to hear it
from people who are also being trained in the field of counseling. I value personal growth, so
these are the things that I like to hear and explore to improve myself so that I can be effective in
helping others.
As I shared earlier, I learned many things about the way I interact in my conversations. I
was surprised to learn that I really want to solve other's problems. I kind of already knew that I
did this, but it was riveting to hear this from others. I did some heart exploring. My initial
