CULTURAL BACKGROUND 2
Abstract
Cultural background is the atmosphere or environment that an individual grew up in.
Background indicates that there may be some limitations on an individual’s beliefs, attitudes,
what an individual can do, and behaviors. Many diverse cultural backgrounds can differ in
various ways. Such ways would include but are not limited to what country the individual came
from, their ethnicity, religion, gender, race, language, and religion (Fränkel, et al., 2019). The
history of an individual is what we would call their culture. How an individual has been raised
and their customs and beliefs from birth. Cultural background impacts our world; however, it
can create stereotypes between various groups. Cultural background identifies and distinguishes
an individual’s identity (Fränkel, et al., 2019). My cultural background is the force that drives
me. I classify and identify as African America. The aspects that are important to my culture are
get-togethers, food, and our relationship with one another. However, even though African
Americans have experienced the same issues that other cultures have faced, my culture is
drastically different from those of other American cultures (Watson-Singleton, et al., 2019).
