In this peer reviewed article, Crowther has sought to study the Fruit of the Spirit and
how it relates to leadership. He uses strong sources to tie in his points and elaborate
on the topic at hand. This is a highly relatable source that will greatly contribute to
my study and paper. The author takes a biblical approach and breaks down each of
the nine characteristics in depth. He has been in leadership for well over 20 years
and has received his Ph. D. in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in
Global leadership. The author has been positioned as a leader within various
churches and has seen firsthand the behind the scenes of leadership.
Duby, David, The Greatest Commandment: The Foundation for Biblical Servant Leadership

Mr. Duby lays the foundational groundwork of what it is to be a leader. He uses the
“servant leader” method to model the foundation for leadership from a biblical
perspective. Within his writing, he unfolds many servant leaders within the bible.
This source helps acknowledge what is important and that is being a servant to God.
This provides leverage to the topic chosen because to be a leader, one must be a
follower. This source has strengthened the foundation of restoring leadership back
to its proper place by detailing the examples of a servant leader. It is imperative that
leaders follow the way and will of the Lord to avoid injury to the sheep. The Greatest

Commandment was to love. Leading with love can never steer one wrong because
God is love. The author expresses this in detail within his writings.
Ganu, Josephine (2018) "Moral Courage: The Essence of Ethical Leadership and
Followership," Journal of Applied Christian Leadership: Vol. 12: No. 2, 42-53.
Ganu addresses not only leaders but followers in her research. This research
journeys through the ethical principles each group must have regarding a biblical
standpoint. The author uses biblical keys and principles to build her claim on the
moral code of ethics. She dives deep into the role of a leader and how ethical
behaviors is important all while tying it in to the Scriptures. Ganu research provides
great insight to complete the research for the need of restoring the blueprint of
leadership. Leaders have gone totally opposite of what the bible has recorded it to
be. Not all but the majority and we must provide a voice to restoring leadership and
moral ethics of leading others.
Maxwell, J. C. (2019). Developing the leader within you 2.0. Thomas Nelson.
Mr. John C. Maxwell is a highly regarded leadership expert that has produced many
books on leadership. His book Developing the Leader Within You has sold many
copies based on the content given. The author defines various levels of leadership
within the novel. This perspective can assist other leaders to understand how to
groom and mold others to be the best leader they can be. This is relatable the topic
because to restore leadership back to the original function, one must know what to
do when the time comes to lead others. This book adds value to my topic as well as
contrast because it will allow me to view leadership from another perspective and
ensure it aligns with God.

Maxwell, J. C. (2007). The 21 irrefutable laws of leadership: Follow them and people will
follow you. Nelson Business.
The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership is a great book to use to understand how the
world views leadership. This book was chosen as a basis to contrast against the
Word of God. If the author believes he knows the “21 irrefutable laws” that leaders
must utilize, then it must be weighed according to the Bible. Mr. John C. Maxwell is
considered a leadership expert and as we all know Jesus was the ultimate leader
example and expert. This book will bring to light some ways in which error may
have occurred in mankind regarding leading others. This book can provide a basis
on which my argument can be built. The author distinguishes leadership from
management but the two are kind of intertwined as well as leaders being
influencers.
Meyer, J. (2002). A leader in the making: Essentials to being a leader after Gods own heart.
Tulsa, OK: Harrison House.
Joyce Meyers is a world-renowned Christian leader who serves Gods people through
her many teachings and sermons. Her novel on “A Leader in the Making” is a great
piece to use regarding the research of leadership and the Fruit of the Spirit. The
author details many practical applications and virtues that one must posses in
leadership. Meyers focuses on the key ingredients it takes to make a leader. She
uses her own personal experiences and pitfalls to reach the reader and become
more relatable. This source is a great contribution to the topic because the author is
speaking from a biblical standpoint and leadership. She not only speaks of

vulnerability, but she shows it within her writings. This is a key element for leaders
to possess, vulnerability.
Sayers, M., & Tyson, J. (2018). Facing leviathan: Leadership, influence, and creating in a
cultural storm. Moody Pub.
Sayers is a Christian voice within the community that provides vital insight on the
least talked about subject in the church, spiritual warfare. Every believer
experiences warfare but leaders are prone to a greater measure of warfare. The
author breaks down the aggressive spirit which is Leviathan. This spirit is spoken of
in the book of Job. He uses this spirit to take those who are seeking leadership on a
journey beyond their wildest dream to understand what leadership is. The author
gives critical thinking exercises and thought-provoking quotes that will leave one
seeking deeper knowledge. This book ties into the topic at hand because the
research will explore the journey of leadership. This will help one understand the
obstacles and some warfare that may be encountered on the road of leading others.
The author traces leadership from biblical to current leadership today.
Selinger, Timothy, A Biblical Overview of the Concept of Fruit with an Emphasis on the
"Fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5. (2019). Master's Theses. 140.

Selinger explores the entire concept of the Fruit of the Spirit. The author researches
what this is and what others perceive it to be. This article explores each
characteristic of the Fruit of the Spirit broken down to get a better understanding of
fruit. This paper assist in giving me validity to the claim of why it is important for
leaders to possess the Fruit of the Spirit. He examines the role of the Holy Spirit in

the lives of the believer and gives explanation as to how the Spirit of God prepares
His people for the Kingdom of God. The Holy Spirit is our ultimate guide and
connection to Jesus Christ. He leads us in all truths according to the Word of God.
This research paper is prevalent to the subject selected and will serve as a
foundational board to build claim upon.
Woodley, M. (2017). Billy Graham: Leading with love: 5 timeless principles for effective
leaders. Waterfall Press.
Billy Graham was a Christian leader who has made an impact on the world. He has
spent years of study leading others and understanding leadership within itself. The
author took away from Mr. Graham 5 “timeless principles” for those who seek to
lead. These 5 principles all came from “love”. The author breaks down the topic
into multiple sections regarding leadership. He spoke to the character of a leader
and common challenges leaders will face. These are two important leadership
topics that need to be addressed and must be addressed ongoing within leadership.
The author uses Mr. Graham’s leadership experience to expound upon his topics.
The novel is a great contribution to leadership and the topic that has been chosen.
Mr. Graham was a great leader and lead a team of individuals who provided
longevity of service to his ministry.
Woolfe, L. (2016). The Bible on leadership: From Moses to Matthew -- Management lessons
for contemporary leaders. AMACOM Div American Mgmt Assn.
Woolfe explores the biblical principles to modern day leadership and business
operations. This book focuses on why there are failing businesses today. This can be
a great resource to the topic because every business, ministry, non-profit, etc has a

leader. Leaders are pivotal to every organization. This book explores the pitfalls
that leaders commonly make that leads to the downturn of business. This writing
aids in giving validity to the claim of “Why it is important for leaders to possess the
Fruit of the Spirit?” The Fruit of the Spirit serves a guide and it embodies the full
meaning of what God wanted mankind to be. Possessing such characteristics will
automatically cause one to lead well. Woolfe does a great job of using many
examples of today to relate to biblical principles within the Word of God. Within this
book, Woolfe details the ten attributes of a leader. However, we must weigh it against
the original foundation for leadership.
