Quantitative Design
Introduction to the Problem
Leadership has been a topic that continues to be unresolved over the years as to what it is
or is not. For one to understand “leadership,” an examination of the qualities of leaders must be
expounded upon. Leaders qualities make up the type of leadership that in turn becomes labeled
as good or bad. Leaders are individuals with a particular set of characteristics that set them apart.
Now, to explore these individuals further, attention must be given to the belief system of the
leader and his or her systematic approach to leadership. This research will seek to discover if
there is any relationship between executive leaders who lead following biblical beliefs versus
those who do not believe in the Bible. The intent is to discern how the driving force of biblical
faith shape Christians in leadership roles.
Research Purpose Statement
The purpose of this quantitative correlational study will be to discover if a relationship
exists between the biblical belief system of executive leaders and organizational success as
compared to executive leaders who do not share a belief in the Bible or lead in that manner.
Purpose Statement Assignment 3
Qualitative Design
Introduction to the Problem
Modern day women are not the traditional ideology of a housewife anymore. Women of
society are now trailblazing their own path while juggling marriage, careers, motherhood, and
ministry. Somehow, they manage to adorn themselves in an imaginary cape and go out to save
and conquer the world each day. This can seem to be a bit overwhelming to some but motivation
to others that believe they can have it all. This research will investigate the lives of female
leaders that juggle marriage, ministry, and motherhood all at once.
Research Purpose Statement
The purpose of this phenomenological qualitative study will be to explore the relationship
between women leaders balancing marriage, ministry, and motherhood. The research will define
what is marriage, ministry, and motherhood from a biblical and secular perspective, the
contemporary role of women within the Christian community, and provide clarity on women
leading within their respective careers. Interviews of female leaders in ministry will take place
and open-ended questions presented to get the true experience of life from their perspective.
Purpose Statement Assignment 4
Mixed-Method Design
Introduction to the Problem
Too often in society, careers have been reduced to the role of gender. With this role
reduction comes competition. Who is better at what the job? It has been said often too many
times if not, “A woman can do a man’s job just as good.” Education is a field that has somehow
sought to remain neutral in the respects of gender. Male and females are educators across the
globe. The only difference is how they choose to lead their organization. Leadership styles
matter because it can be the determining factor in which an employee choose to leave or remain
in the workplace. This research will consider male and female leaders in higher education
settings that lead the university, such as the President of the university.
Research Purpose Statement
The purpose of this mixed-methods research study is to understand the relationship
between male and female leadership styles within higher education settings with emphasis on
leadership effectiveness. The criteria used to determine leadership effectiveness would be:
retention rate of employees, employee satisfaction, and the overall success of the organization. A
qualitative interview methodology will be used to collect data identifying the leadership styles
used among the participants within the higher education setting. A quantitative survey
methodology would be used to determine the relationship that exists, if any, between the
effectiveness of the leadership styles.
