Problem
There is existing research on law enforcement use of force, but there are many limitations
with this existing research. “There is a need for a new review of literature after the changes in
social media have allowed for increased visibility for subsequent widespread social movements,
such as Black Lives Matter. Seminal Research on motivations for police use of force strictly
focuses on individual characteristics by examining individual police behavior. Existing reviews
that synthesize what is known about the use of force have only examined the individual attributes
of a person, such as race, gender, or the specific encounter characteristics” (Cowell, et al., 2020).
Comments
The problem was clearly stated in both the Abstract and the Introduction of the paper. The
title did not necessarily present a problem, but after reading the article the relationship between
the problem and the title can be identified.
