My Project is about the social media site called
Facebook
Facebook is a social media ste that a lot of people have joined. It's a website where you can
meet new friends, talk about daily stuff, or just hang out. Facebook can be a good and bad site
because some users can commit crimes on it.It is owned by a platform where people who
belong can have their own profiles on it and they can also connect with their relatives, peers,
find classmates and people who just want to be left alone. It was produced in 2004 and now it's
the biggest website around the United States and other countries. Users can get information
like news, weather, and there’s a place for people to add your business advertising.
Most law enforcement agencies can have data on the user or members of Facebook through
another online portal which uses emails. The email company can provide certain guidelines for
legal requests, and it can have a valid process. It can be compelled and has some account
records on the users or members that are on Facebook such as photos, location, and how some
users send messages to each other. If someone ever had a situation that could involve a mean
risk to other people, such as a criminal act, the law enforcement would get a tip from someone
else, and they would have to investigate the complaint. If it’s a bad situation, they might have to
take over the members’ site and close it down for safety reasons. The law enforcement
agencies that would be used would be, the police officers, investigators, detective's unit and the
can handle a user ‘s Facebook account during a situation by reviewing the evidence on the
complaint and obtaining search warrants to search the person’s website or computer. They can
do that if there’s a mediate threat, death treat or a form to hurt another person. The police can
look at all the documents and information on all the users or members that posted all their
posts on Facebook and other sites, but they could commit a bad crime and write it all over
Facebook. A police officer officer can obtain a Subpoena or a search warrant to someone’s car,
home or even a locker at their job. The law enforcement can look for evidence on the crime
that the user committed, and the investigator part together if the suspect “s timeline was at a
certain time and what they used to commit the crime. They also can interview the victims and
witnesses and ask them how it happened, what do they see and when the crime happened.
Sometimes the Gratification Theory is good for the law enforcement officers to use because of
the defendant they will get a tip from their peers and start acting normal around the police and
not commit any crimes.
There’s another theory that could be used on the crimes on Facebook website which is called
the Synchronically Theory. The theory is about how someone examines research on a crime, the
meaning of 2 or 3 problems all at once that happen on a social media site. The person who
produced the theory is Carl Jung, and he has an analysis of an approach in certain fields. The
policies or theories that could be used for the crimes that happen on Facebook. Facebook
crimes could be governed by the company’s standards which violence and most of the crimes
that people on Facebook are on and what other people say to them on their sites that make
them want to hurt someone else. The theories that I would use on Facebook sites on the crime
situation would be these. The Gratifications and Social Influence Theories. The Gratification
theory is called the Mass Communication Theory, and it has to do with people who are so active
on social media sites. Social media sites instead of people in general. The media users also use
the sites to communicate instead of watching tv, hanging outside, watching sports or listening
to music. People commit a variety of crimes on Facebook such as Cyberbullying, harassment,
identity thefts like using people’s credit cards or credit reports to get into good places. Some
criminals can use Facebook to facilitate crimes such as, images that is used for coercion to use
their identity and say they are someone else so no one will know that they are the ones who
committed the crimes.
