Abstract
Ethics are a vital component when it comes to all aspects of life, but it is especially important
that those who are policing the community practice ethical behavior. Police and police
administration are held to a high standard within a community, and they are expected to uphold
the values and ethical behaviors that they have been taught throughout their training. Because
police officers and those in police administration are constantly placed in stressful, high-risk
situations, it is important that they respond to those situations professionally, ethically, and with
respect to their colleagues and community. There have been numerous scholarly articles
published discussing the importance of ethics within a police force and how ethical behavior
should be taught to new officers and recruits. Based on these various articles, it can be
determined what an ethical organization might look like within the police force and what kind of
training, leadership, and employees would be expected to work at said organization. Ensuring
ethical behavior is properly taught and enforced with police administration is one small step that
can be taken to ensure that individuals are kept safe within their community.
