Consider my decision to search the residence for the fugitive. What is your opinion?
Do you conduct yourselves as if you are on video at all times? Have you done things that
you would not do in front of your grandmother? Why?
How do you feel about setting limits related to tolerable behavior?
Dilemma 7
You are the assigned investigator in the abduction of a five year old girl. Based off of your
interrogation of the suspect, you believe that he is aware of the girl’s whereabouts. At what
lengths would you go to get the suspect to reveal the location of the abducted child?
If the fugitive’s home is available to me by a search warrant, I will do whatever I need to
or find what’s needed to be done in order to find the best information I can gather to help my
case and find the fugitive. I have no problem with opening or at times breaking a item to find
inside what may help me get that information.
I’ll do that weather it’s being videotaped or not. I will place all information gathered to
the report as needed, to prove that my actions are correct and needed to bring a solution.
I would do things you wouldn’t do in front of your grandmother. In front of my
grandmother and explain to her that crime can’t be fought with a magnifying glass looking at
everything that is considered unpopular. For example, a criminal does not care there are laws
against owning guns illegally, they just do it because they are living a life of crime. So making
laws does not stop a criminal from doing what they want to do with those illegal guns. Why
should I be watched over doing something aggressively if I’m doing it with the right ideals?
I’m not saying to be abusive to someone who is not conducting himself in a wrong way
or did not commit something at a high level, or even if they did but they are cooperating with
the
cases, then in a situation like this you go with the motion and the steps the law authorizes. But at
times when things don’t happen as they are written in black and white policies and in laws, going
into the gray area can be very useful and I wouldn’t have a problem or lose sleep if I did that for
the right outcome. I believe being politically correct makes people weak.
I know that many would not agree with me, but in a situation like this, my limits go far
beyond that, that is allowed, why because I believe life is the principle in what all laws are
created on. I would use all techniques I know inside the law and put those in my report and some
outside the law that are known to get results which will probably be also in my report but not to
a full extent of how they happen but more in how I perceived them to be, why? Easy, what
wrong can a child do to a grown person that is so large for him to act in a way that puts that child
in harm ways, where is the law there? Why should someone get a fair treatment if he never gave
that child the same, are my actions cruel? No, are his actions cruel? Yes, they are also inhumane,
they are also abusive, they are also cowardly because this child was possibly unaware of the
harm she was in do to her naive mind set. He as an adult over powered her which shows that he
does not have the guts to confront a grown human the same way. I would do whatever it takes to
find that child, and I would have no remorse on my actions because I would not be taking
actions to kill anyone, but I would make the truth come out and hopefully save that innocent
child.
Never the less, my superiors would put me on this case because I’ll be the one that they know
would find the clues needed, even if they know what it takes for me to get it done. There is an
exclusive group of law enforcers that may be seen as wrong for their actions but are always right
with their outcomes.
I’m sure I will have very liberal mindset people that will disagree with me, but the world
is full of horrible people that do this with no remorse of life and those people need to be
meeting with the same type of law that has no tolerance for this type of behavior.
