SOURCE OF ACTIVITY
Officer was dispatched to 227 East Memorial Drive, Normal, VA 12345 on April 7, 2017
at about 6:30 PM. East Memorial Drive intersects Vaughn Road. The ground was dry due to lack
of rain and the weather was sunny. There was no answer on the front door when the officer
knocked. Officer entered residence through unlocked patio door in the back.
INITIAL OBSERVATIONS
Once the officer entered the residence, he found the deceased body of the victim, Natalie
Lynn Turner. Natalie was born on March 17, 1996. Her social security number was 434-71-
2017. Victim was found lying on the couch with multiple bottles of prescription pills and an
IBM ThinkPad (Serial: 05A5439) on the coffee table in front of her. On the computer, the
officer noticed a note written and situated in front of the victim. Both the pill bottles and
computer were taken in for evidence by the officer.
STATEMENTS
The first statement came from victim’s best friend of 15 years, Chelsea Ann Howser,
born July 2, 1995 (SSN: 490-22-2999). Chelsea is an Asian female. Chelsea stated that the two
had been roommates up until a few weeks ago when Chelsea moved out. She also stated that the
victim had been dating her boyfriend Zachary Allen Cain (DOB: 01/02/1995, SSN: 333-22-
4444) up until a few days ago when the victim ended the relationship. Chelsea mentioned a
possibility of abuse in the relationship. Chelsea told the officer that Zachary works at the local
Best Auto Parts. When leaving the victims residence, the officer found a brown leather wallet
which contained Zachary Cain’s ID and Social Security Card. The wallet was collected for
evidence.

The next statement came from Mr. Cain’s coworker, John Whatley (DOB: 04/03/1987).
John resides at 394 Radcliff Circle, Normal, VA 12345. The Best Auto Parts address is 123 Main
Street, Normal, VA 12345, phone number (434) 333- 2378. John stated that the day before the
reported incident (incident # 5416) Zachary Cain was late for work and left early which Mr.
Whatley stated was “unusual for him.” He also mentioned Mr. Cain being distracted all week
prior to the incident.
The final statement was given by Mr. Zachary Allen Cain. Mr. Cain lives at 410 Brown
Street, Apartment # 812, Normal, VA 12345. Mr. Cain told the officer that the victim was
supposedly “just a friend” and claimed that the victim had never been to his house. Soon after
Mr. Cain said that, the officer noticed a pair of black men’s leather gloves, along with a red Kate
Spade handbag on the kitchen table. The handbag contained the victims ID and a business card
for a psychologist. Both items were taken in for evidence. When questioned about the items on
the table, Mr. Cain seemed to get nervous and looked at his watch. Before the officer could
finish questioning Zachary, the suspect ran out of his apartment and drove south on the interstate
in a 2016 Nissan Sentra.
