Excellence in Writing: The Importance of Excellence in Writing to Christians
lOMoARcPSD|21126671
Christians strive for excellence in every task they attempt, whenever it comes to writing there’s
no exception. Ephesians 6:7-8 states, “serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not
people, because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do,
whether they are slave free,” (Biblica-The International Bible Society, 2022). The main goal of a
Christian is to spread scripture, whenever and wherever possible, writing is an effective way to
successfully do so not only to a community but to the entire world. With that being said, the
bible speaks of Christian integrity, whenever that principle is applied in writing, it is important
for Christians to avoid plagiarism and acknowledge the works of the original author whenever
using an author quote, paraphrasing, or summarizing. If this isn’t done correctly, then the
Christian may as well have committed a theft of another person’s property, not to mention
there’s a high level of dishonesty that’s committed when the use of another person’s work is
used without giving proper credit to that person, especially knowingly not giving proper credit to
the original author. Proverbs 22:29 states, “do you see someone skilled in their work? They will
serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank,” (Biblica- The International
Bible Society, 2022). Therefore, excelling in our writing skills will entitle us to reap rewards
here on earth, as the scripture states we are to excel in any activity we execute. Most importantly,
when someone becomes a Christian, they become a role model in the community, people tend to
observe our behavior especially younger Christians, modeling our behavior as to what’s right
and wrong. As a role model, it’s important to make sure 100% effort is put into our works,
remembering we are made in the image of Christ, everything we do should bring him glory.
