CALL FOR SERVICE:
On 04/04/2023 at approximately 0630 hours, I responded to 227 East Memorial Drive, Normal,
Virginia 12345 for the report of a deceased subject. Upon my arrival, I spoke with the
complainant, Chelsea Ann Howser.
CONTACT WITH CHELSEA:
On 04/04/2023 at approximately 0630 hours, I verbally identified and spoke with Chelsea Ann
Howser (DOB 07/02/1995; SSN 490-22-2999) at 227 East Memorial Drive who advised the
following. Chelsea came by to pick up Natalie Lynn Turner to go for a run and found Natalie
deceased.
Chelsea has known Natalie for approximately two years. They were best friends and knew each
other very well. Chelsea last spoke to Natalie on 04/03/2023 at approximately 2030 hours.
Natalie has been bipolar for years, but she is good with her medication and has not been suicidal.
Zachary Allen Cain (Zack) and Natalie were dating, and Chelsea had met Zack multiple times.
Zack and Natalie, “discovered each other online, and have been communicating back and forth
since last year. They met in person about four weeks ago and have been spending a lot of time
together ever since.” Zack and Natalie typically spend time together at Natalie’s condo. Zack
works at the only Best Auto Parts location in Normal. Zack served in the US Coast Guard and
may have been discharged for drug abuse. To Chelsea’s knowledge, Zack never physically
abused Natalie, but would “raise a hand and scare her.” Chelsea believes Zack should be a
suspect in the death investigation of Natalie.
DECEASED SUBJECT:
On 04/04/2023 at approximately 0630 hours, Natalie Lynn Turner (DOB 3/17/1996; SSN 434-
71-2017) was located deceased at her residence, 227 East Memorial Drive. Natalie was sitting on
her couch in her living room. She was leaning to her right side, with her right arm straight out
and left arm at her side. Her eyes and mouth were open when located. She was wearing a white
shirt with a logo on the upper left chest and yellow SpongeBob pajama pants. No signs of
physical injury were observed. Last known consumption is unknown, and no signs were located.
Natalie was last seen alive on 04/03/2023 at approximately 2030 hours. Pictures of the deceased
subject were taken and uploaded to evidence.
SCENE OBSERVATIONS:
The scene was secured, evidence was collected, and pictures were taken.
An IBM ThinkPad laptop was open and on the coffee table in front of Natalie. The computer had
what appeared to be a suicide note on the screen. A picture of the suicide note has been entered
into evidence. There were three prescription medication bottles located on the coffee table. One
was open with pills spilled across the coffee table. Pictures of the scene were taken and uploaded
to evidence. There were no abnormal environmental conditions observed. There were no extreme
weather conditions observed. I did not hear, smell, or observe anything further that was
abnormal.
On the back step of the residence, a brown leather wallet was located containing a Virginia
Identification Card and Zachary Allen Cain’s Social Security card. Zack’s picture shows that he
has light colored skin and green eyes.
CONTACT WITH JOHN:
On 04/04/2023 at approximately 0845 hours, I verbally identified and spoke with John Whatley
(DOB 04/03/1987) at 123 Main Street who advised the following. John is Zack’s supervisor at
Best Auto Parts. Zack is 5’8” to 5’11” and 180 to 200 pounds with a red hair color military
haircut. Zack has an anchor tattoo on his upper right arm. Zack, “mentioned a girl named Nat.”
On 04/03/2017, Zack was scheduled to work the 1200-2200 shift and close the store. He came in
late at approximately 1230 hours, which is “pretty unusual” for him. Zack left early at
approximately 2000 hours. Zack seemed unnaturally distracted at work this week.
SEARCH WARRANT:
I obtained a valid search warrant for Zack’s residence at 410 Brown Street, Apartment #812,
Normal, Virginia 12345.

Cain (DOB 01/02/1995, SSN 333-22-4444, hereinafter “Zack”) at 410 Brown Street, Apartment
#812 who advised the following. I informed Zack a search warrant had been issued for his
residence and he agreed to let me search it. A pair of men’s black leather gloves and a red Kate
Spade handbag were located on Zack’s kitchen table. Inside the handbag, I found Natalie’s
Virginia Identification Card and a business card for a psychologist. These items were confiscated
and inventoried into evidence. Zack was read his Miranda Warning, to which he responded he
was willing to answer questions. Zack stated Natalie was just a friend and she had never been to
his apartment. When questioned about the purse on the table, Zack said he needed to get to work.

off quickly in his vehicle, a 2016 Nissan Sentra. Zack Drove south on the interstate.
