The statements for that describes Allen's overarching view about
discerning the call to ministry are, "Yet, for me, God's call went beyond
His summons to salvation. Over the next three years I increasingly sensed
His call to ministry as well, Allen (2016). And "My desire to do other things
withered, and my desire to serve Christ *ourished. My appetite for
ministry became insatiable. The more I preached, the more I longed to
preach. The more I served, the more I desired to serve, Allen (2016).
Concerning the statements above I am in total agreement with Allen. His
assessments concerning salvation, the call to ministry, and desiring more
to serve in the Kingdom of God is in line with how I feel about ministry and
my personal journey and testimony as well.. Starting with volunteering to
serve in the ministry as a part of the choir, I really believe kept me coming
to church along with the freedom to worship God as I pleased in my own
special way.
What were the objective and subjective elements to your call?
Being a apart of a non-denominational ministry was the real catalyst to
my consistent involvement over the years, this was where I really begin to
understand the gifts of the spirit, speaking in tongues, laying on of hands,
and things like miraculous healing.. I had never heard of these entities
before and to this day I believe by faith that all things are possible to
those who believe. (Matthew 9:23).
Is it okay to question God’s call on your life for ministry? Why or why not?
I do believe that it is okay to question God's call to ministry, because you
can be doing the right thing in the wrong season and it could cost you
valuable time and the life of others.. Look at Moses who killed an Egyptian
trying to be a deliverer without God's power. He was doing what he was
called to do but at the wrong time. I truly, truly, truly believe that as
ministers of the Gospel we really need to seek wise counsel from a
multitude of counselors before stepping into our callings without spiritual
con<rmation or peace. (Proverbs 11:14). I have seen people move to fast
to try to lead ministries and it has never worked out and a lot of people
get hurt and wounded in the process. I truly believe that no one can go
wrong with the leading and guiding of the Holy Spirit..
