I agree with your decision to abide by the rules of your employer. d If you
or others in similar positions did not follow the rules, we would not have
Christians in healthcare who can lovingly minister to people suffering and in
need of compassion and love. d Your presence makes a huge difference. d
As you know, sharing Christ is not always what we say. d Saint Francis of
Assisi said, “Do all you can to preach the gospel and, if necessary, use
words!” d Many of us are not allowed to outwardly evangelize at our
workplaces. d But that does not mean we cannot be an ambassador for
Christ by demonstrating His unconditional love and compassion. d Reid and
Wheeler asserted that the unsaved world will not hear the truth until they
first see the truth of Christ in our lives.[1] d I think it is important for us to
do what we can do in our given situation and leave the rest to God. d God
has a way of opening doors and hearts. Matthew says, “let your light shine
before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your
Father who is in heaven (Matt 5:16).[2]
It has been my experience that if we are opened, God will provide a way
to share the good news of Jesus. d Again, I do not believe it is always
what we say. d Sometimes we say more by the life we live and the love
and compassion we have for others. d I never had to initiate a conversation
about Jesus at my workplace. d But there were many occasions in which I
could minister to people. I had people who saw something different in me,
and they would question me about that difference. d And, of course, I would
take the opportunity to share what Jesus did for me. d There are many
people who will respond by seeing the Christ in us than by the words we
say.
my pastor does not specify evangelism either, but he does talk about church
growth and how we have a bunch of empty pews that need to be filled. I will be
honest, the pastor should not need to preach on evangelism If we are saved, then
we already know what Matthew 28 states as far as the "Great Commission" goes. If
he is preaching on it, it is because it is not being done enough in our church. You
can ask a lot of people in the church, they will tell you that they are not fulfilling
the "Great Commission like they should, I think this applies to everybody. I myself
have missed opportunities to witness when I should. Bottom line, the pastor should
not need to preach on it, people should be willing to go and do their part. James
said "The right people know to do and don't do it, it is sin."1 James 4:17, (E.S.V.)
If preachers would hold one night a month dedicated to having people practice their
witnessing skills, it might get them to the point to where they are bold and step
out in faith not worried what the person say's. Satan has put that fear in them, yet
God said "That he is not the author of fear, but of a sound mind,"2 2 Timothy 1:7,
(E.S.V.) Satan puts that fear in us because he wants us to keep from advancing the
Kingdom of God. If he can do that, God knows how many souls we could pass up
before we wise up. Some of these people might not have a chance for somebody
else to witness to them be fore they pass. That is why it important for us to do
out part and do what Jesus said which was "GO".
