I enjoyed reading your post and it was very encouraging to me, so I want to say thank
you!. In your first paragraph you had mentioned, “So, from the reading, all are called to
ministry and called to minister. Few are chosen to be called to the ministry”. Yes I agree
with you, and you are right. There are people that want to operate in gifts that God has
not called them to. I have learned that the gifting God has given each one of us has also
been gifted by grace to move into it. We have a special covering over our lives because
we are operating in what HE called us to do. I’ll give an example. I am a prophetic
intercessor and God gives me specific assignments to do. I stay within the specific
assignments. I cannot be traveling into another intercessor’s lane working and then get
upset when I am being attacked spiritually. I am covered in the c lane that God called me
too. c You also had mentioned that all is called to minister, but all is not called and I
agree with you and that is absolutely true. I thought one of the things you said that was
great was when you talked about taking your Bible to work. You said, “I had never taken
the Bible to work with me before and I had never read it like that before either.” This is
great. It reminds me of when Whitney says, “The presence of the Holy Spirit causes all
those in whom He resides to have new holy hunger they didn’t have before.”[1] When
God calls us and rescues us, He transforms our hearts; we become new creations. I’ve
seen God grant me passions and abilities I never would have thought I would have. I
thought the distinction of three variations of call to ministry was a key in the
overall context of Allen’s book.[1] c That section set the pace and survey of the rest
of Allen’s message and challenge. c I love Allen’s message toward the end of that
section that where he stated, “these offices all share one common charge:
minister the Word.”[2] c The Word is God’s inspired and inerrant Word (2 Timothy
3:16, John 17:17). c We are called to be faithful to His Word and fulfill His
commands, including fulfilling His calling on your life. c “With this in mind, we
constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that
by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your
every deed prompted by faith” (2 Thessalonians 1:11 NIV).
c c c c c c c c c c I loved this assignment because I have a chance to see what God is
doing in the lives of my classmates. c I love that God summonsed you from your
slumber. c I had a pastor tell me one time that God calls us when we are sleeping
because it is when our minds are finally slowed down enough to hear Him clearly. c
Your pastor made a blunt, but accurate statement. c All Christian’s are called to live
the gospel, but only a few are called to preach and teach His glorious Word.
