PORTFOLIO CRITIQUE ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW
You will create and submit a ministry portfolio to be critiqued by the Career Center. This
ministry portfolio will be a summary of your ministry experience, education, related-work
experience, personal views related to ministry and theology, and several references. This
ministry portfolio will become a useful tool when doing a job search and establishing an initial
interview. It will also prove valuable as a template to help others develop their own ministry
portfolios (especially for those students who are not looking for a job).
INSTRUCTIONS
Please see the following requirements for your ministry portfolio. It should occur in the
following order and will include, at a minimum:
Cover letter—written by you for a specific job you are looking for (or the type of job
which would be of interest to you)
Resume (with education, ministry experience, related work experience, minimum of 5
references with their titles [pastor, deacon, friend, etc.] and contact information)
Salvation testimony
Call to ministry
Bio sketch/your biography (with current photo of you/your family) with any combination
of at least two of the following (use Scripture references to support your views):
oPersonal philosophy of leadership
oStatement of purpose
oPersonal philosophy of ministry
oPlan for global engagement
At least 3 written references (these references can also be from the list above)
Doctrinal statement/statement of faith (with Scripture support)
Use 12 point font, Times New Roman, single-spacing
Upload your entire ministry portfolio to the LU Career Center at least 3 days before the
due date to allow for adequate turnaround time
Upload the Career Center’s critique of your ministry portfolio to the course (don’t correct
it at this time—just upload the document with the Career Center’s comments)
