Dear HR Director,
My name is Harold Hanson, and I am writing this letter to discuss employment
opportunities with Jesus House DC, relating to the role of Operations and Communications

Throughout my academic life at the University, I have received appreciation and recognition
for my strong conceptual understanding of Christianity and the Christian ministry. My degree
revolves around religion with high emphasis on Christian ministries. I have been able to grow
my practical skills as well as theoretical knowledge relating to the ministry. I could use my
knowledge and skills to serve Jesus House DC to accomplish its mission to help men,
women, and the local communities to move towards the path of Jesus Christ. I believe I am a
suitable candidate for the Operations and Communications Pastor position in your church.
I sincerely believe that Christ has called me to guide, disciple and lead people to
follow His path. And become more like Him in their daily lives. Just like Jesus House DC, I
believe that every individual has a story that is a granular part of God’s bigger picture of life,
community and freedom. I am an extremely passionate individual when it comes to
reproducible disciple-making. In Jesus House DC, I can use my skills as a disciple-maker to

Salvation testimony
I was born into a conservative Christian family. So, since childhood I had to attend
the local church with my parents every Sunday. There were many times when I did not pay
attention to what was going on in the church. Due to this, my connection with the Almighty
was very superficial and my prayer would typically include a brief ‘Our Father.’ Even though
I was given a Bible, I rarely opened it and tried to understand the holy message that was
written in it.
All this changed when my mother was extremely sick. I did not know whom to reach.
So, I started reading the Bible in a whole-hearted manner. Gradually, the words made sense
to me, and I realized what I had been missing out on all my life. I realized that Jesus Christ
was always there for me, but I never paid attention to Him or valued what He had given me. I
was able to realize my mistake. I used Acts 22:6-16 as guidance where Paul has expressed
that Jesus is Lord and he has asked for forgives for his sins (Bible Gateway passage: Acts
22:6-16 - Good News Translation. Bible Gateway, 2020). I sincerely prayed to Jesus and
begged for forgiveness and gradually my mother’s health condition improved. Since then, I
share a solid bond with Jesus Christ.
Call to ministry
I cannot remember the specific day when I felt the call to ministry, but I was able to
sense a call from the Almighty when I started reading the Bible after my mother was sick.
The message gave me the strength that I needed at the times as I was highly vulnerable and
desperate. When Jesus Christ came to my rescue and things started to improve, I realized that

I could guide others to understand the message of Jesus. The entire experience changed how I
attended church and the peaceful and valuable time that I spent there. I ultimately made up
my mind to provide a direction to people so that they could lead a fulfilling life with Christ
(Testimony and Call to Ministry. Why This Website, 2020).
Biography
I belong to a conservative and religious family consisting of my mother and father.
We have a deep connection with Christianity and since my childhood we have attended
church together and it has helped to strengthen the ties between us. My parents have been
genuine Disciples of Christ but my connection with Jesus in the initial stage of my life was
unstable. But numerous events happened in my life which helped me to value Jesus Christ
and understand his sacrificing and merciful nature. Since then, I am a strong and faithful
believer of Christ.
Personal philosophy of leadership My personal philosophy of leadership has been
influenced by Philippians 4:6 which states that “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by
prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God”. I never
try to take credit for anything instead, I try to show gratitude for the contribution of all the
team members (Philippians 4:6, 2020).
Personal philosophy of ministry The main scripture that guides my philosophy of
Christian ministry is Ephesians 4:11-13 “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the
evangelists, the shepherds and teachers to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for
building up the body of Christ,’ (Bible Gateway passage: Ephesians 4:11-13 - English
Standard Version. Bible Gateway, 2020). The experiences that I had in my life were a signal
for me to join Christian ministry and help others to get colder to Jesus.
ASSIGNMENT 7
My belief in Christ as well as ministry has been shaped by the messages that have
been captured in the Holy Bible. For instance, 1 Peter 5:3 “Don’t be bossy to those people
who are in your care but set an example for them.” (CEV) This message guides me to calmly
carry out my work in Christian ministry by being compassionate and empathetic. Similarly,
Galatians 6:9 - “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a
harvest if we do not give up’ motivates me to keep going and anticipate positive results. I also
follow Proverbs 18:1 “A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against
all wise judgement.” I believe leaders need to be social so that others can seek their help.
Doctrinal statement
There are three persons in the Trinity, which includes God the Father, God the Son, and God
the Holy Spirit. The Trinity is equally divine and perfect and works in a unique and
harmonious way in the great work of redemption. I believe that God the Father is the Only
One Eternal God. There is no other God that is Greater. God the Father created all things for
His glory, and He is the same forever and ever. Amen. (Exodus 3:13-15)
I believe God the Son is the Word, and all the creation on earth and the universe were created
for and by him. He is "The Way, the Truth and the Life, and no one comes to the Father
except through him"(John 14:6). He came to earth to redeem the fallen man, fully God and
fully Man, and died on the cross of Calvary as a perfect human being without sin to bridge
and reopen direct communication and relationship with God, as it was meant to be before the
creation of man.
I believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person; equal with God the Father and Son and of the
same nature; He glorifies God the Son, He was active in the creation, and he is the only
member of the Godhead actively on earth. He convicts of sin, judgment, and righteousness
and He bears witness to the truth of the gospel in preaching and testimony. (John 16:5-15)
