This leer serves as a leer of recommendaon for Harold C. Hanson in the posion of Operaons
and Communicaons Pastor (OCP). Harold has aended Bridgeway Community Church since
2011. From 2011; unl 2020. He has served as a Lay Minister in the Points of Light Lay Ministry,
which is under my direct leadership. This ministry provides prayer, encouragement and spiritual
support to our Bridgeway congregaon each Sunday.
The Points of Light Lay Ministry is inspired by 2 Corinthians 1:3–5 which says, “Praise be to the God
and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who
comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we
ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the su5erings of Christ, so also our
comfort abounds through Christ.” The Points of Light Lay Ministers are specially selected based on
their calling from God to serve, their spiritual maturity, their compassion for the hurng, their ability
to lead and provide counsel and their discreon with maers of sensivity. Harold has ful7lled all of
these requirements and abilies.
Throughout Harold’s me of service as a Lay Minister, he has served faithfully and admirably. He has
provided comfort, shepherding and encouragement to many in need with love and grace. He has
drawn from his personal life experiences of trusng in God while providing tesmonies of God’s
faithfulness. Harold is devoted to and knowledgeable of Scripture and uses God’s Word to guide and
encourage all he ministers to. He is a person who keeps Jesus at the centre of all things, which
makes him a great Lay Minister, father and husband. Based on all of these things, it is my pleasure to
provide this leer of recommendaon on behalf of Harold to become an Operaons and
Communicaons Pastor (OCP). I believe he would be a tremendous asset to your organizaon.

Biography of Student
I belong to a conservative and religious family consisting of my mother and father.
We have a deep connection with Christianity and since my childhood we have attended
church together and it has helped to strengthen the ties between us. My parents have been
genuine Disciples of Christ but my connection with Jesus in the initial stage of my life was
unstable. But numerous events happened in my life which helped me to value Jesus Christ
and understand his sacrificing and merciful nature. Since then, I am a strong and faithful
believer of Christ.
Personal philosophy of leadership My personal philosophy of leadership has been
influenced by Philippians 4:6 which states that “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by
prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God”. I never
try to take credit for anything instead, I try to show gratitude for the contribution of all the
team members (Philippians 4:6, 2020).
ASSIGNMENT8
Personal philosophy of ministry The main scripture that guides my philosophy of
Christian ministry is Ephesians 4:11-13 “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the
evangelists, the shepherds and teachers to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for
building up the body of Christ,’ (Bible Gateway passage: Ephesians 4:11-13 - English
Standard Version. Bible Gateway, 2020). The experiences that I had in my life were a signal
for me to join Christian ministry and help others to get colder to Jesus.
My belief in Christ as well as ministry has been shaped by the messages that have
been captured in the Holy Bible. For instance, 1 Peter 5:3 “Don’t be bossy to those people
who are in your care but set an example for them.” (CEV) This message guides me to calmly
carry out my work in Christian ministry by being compassionate and empathetic. Similarly,
Galatians 6:9 - “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a
harvest if we do not give up’ motivates me to keep going and anticipate positive results. I also
follow Proverbs 18:1 “A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against
all wise judgement.” I believe leaders need to be social so that others can seek their help.
Call to ministry
When I came across Ephesians 4:11-13 CEV ‘Christ chose some of us to be
apostles, prophets, missionaries, pastors, and teachers, so that his people would learn to serve
and his body would grow strong. This will continue until we are united by our faith and by
our understanding of the Son of God. Then we will be mature, just as Christ is and we will be
completely like him.’ I realized that I had received the call from the Almighty to join the path
of ministry. When I read the Bible verse I felt like I got a direction in my life. I realized that I
could join the ministry and help vulnerable and desperate people to understand that Christ is
there for them at all times. In my life, I had seen Jesus Christ come to my rescue and I wanted
people to have the same kind of trust in Christ. There was an instance where my mother was
very sick and at that time Jesus was the only one who had come to my rescue. The experience
ASSIGNMENT9
opened my eyes and I realized that I could guide others to understand the message of Jesus.
The entire experience changed how I attended church and the peaceful and valuable time that
I spent there. I ultimately made up my mind to provide a direction to people so that they
could lead a fulfilling life with Christ (Testimony and Call to Ministry. Why This Website,
2020).
Salvation Testimony
I was born into a conservative Christian family. So, since childhood I had to attend
the local church with my parents every Sunday. There were many times when I did not pay
attention to what was going on in the church. Due to this, my connection with the Almighty
was very superficial and my prayer would typically include a brief ‘Our Father.’ Even though
I was given a Bible, I rarely opened it and tried to understand the holy message that was
written in it.
All this changed when my mother was extremely sick. I did not know whom to reach.
So, I started reading the Bible in a whole-hearted manner. Gradually, the words made sense
to me, and I realized what I had been missing out on all my life. Jesus Christ was always
there for me, but I never paid attention to Him or valued what He had given me. Soon I was
able to realize my mistake. The Acts 22:6-16 acted as a guidance for me where Paul has
expressed that Jesus is Lord and he has asked for forgiveness for his sins (Bible Gateway
passage: Acts 22:6-16 - Good News Translation. Bible Gateway, 2020). When I realized my
mistake I sincerely prayed to Jesus and begged for forgiveness and gradually my mother’s
health condition improved. Since then, I share a solid bond with Jesus Christ.
Doctrine Statement
There are three persons in the Trinity, which includes God the Father, God the Son, and God
the Holy Spirit. The Trinity is equally divine and perfect and works in a unique and
ASSIGNMENT10
harmonious way in the great work of redemption. God the Father is the Only One Eternal
God according to me. There is no other God that is Greater. God the Father created all things
for His glory, and He is the same forever and ever. Amen. (Exodus 3:13-15)
I believe God the Son is the Word, and all the creation on earth and the universe were created
for and by him. He is "The Way, the Truth and the Life, and no one comes to the Father
except through him"(John 14:6). He came to earth to redeem the fallen man, fully God and
fully Man, and died on the cross of Calvary as a perfect human being without sin to bridge
and reopen direct communication and relationship with God, as it was meant to be before the
creation of man.
The Holy Spirit is a divine person according to me; equal with God the Father and Son and of
the same nature; He glorifies God the Son, He was active in the creation, and he is the only
member of the Godhead actively on earth. He convicts of sin, judgment, and righteousness
and He bears witness to the truth of the gospel in preaching and testimony. (John 16:5-15)
