Philosophy of Ministry Paper
The purpose of this assignment is to help you understand what a philosophy of ministry
is and then determine how your programming for your type of ministry reflects your
Philosophy of Ministry. We will be discussing this in class, but your textbook, Youth
Ministry Management Tools 2.0, also has a very well written section outlining how to
develop a Philosophy of Ministry which includes the four components that should be
included in your paper. This paper should be a minimum of four to five pages in length.
Your paper should have the following three sections:
What is a Philosophy of Ministry? (50 points)
This section should define what a Philosophy of Ministry is explain the following:
-Primary Purpose (include discussion on Mission & Vision)
-Perceptions of People (include discussion on Target Audience & Primary Needs)
-Focus (include discussion on Unique Focuses)
-Practices (include discussion on Process)
What is YOUR personal philosophy of ministry? (25 points)
In this section, write your PERSONAL philosophy of ministry. Your Philosophy of
Ministry will also be uploaded and added to your Handshake profile. You should
articulate the following in a general fashion:
-Mission & Vision
-Target Audience & Primary Needs
-Unique Focus
- Process
How will your programming demonstrate your philosophy of ministry? (25 points)
This section should describe the types of programming that exist in your type of ministry
and how these types of programs connect to your process and execute your philosophy
of ministry.
