Summary of findings: Through the study of these three awesome Ministries I have
found 3 similarities. First similarity being Evangelism. Saddleback Community Church is
a very large church in reference to members and structure. Pastor Rick Warren have
put together one of the greatest outreach ministries I have seen online. It seems as their
main focus is to give back to the community, allow individuals to minister in their gift and
make everyone feel united. North Point Community Church, was more laid back and
geared towards worship. I can see their awesome band hitting the streets and
evangelizing through the ministry of music. However, they still served the purpose of
sending their people overseas through their global ministry. In this ministry they connect
with other partner churches and serve as needed in a remote location. Coastal
Community Church was more conservative on their website structure, but packed their
important attributes into one focus, which is "Serve". They support local missions in
providing food, clothes, shelter etc. They support four vital ministries: Peninsula Rescue
Mission, Impact international, The Channel and Charlotte Eagles. The second similarity
is Small Groups. All 3 churches have a small group ministry. The unique thing is they all
have the same guidelines and serves the same purpose. Small groups are designed for
couples, singles and mixed non-couples. Individuals come together to pray, discuss the
bible and fellowship on a weekly, biweekly or monthly basis. These small groups
locations can be at one's home, work, church or a neutral location. The third and final
similarity is accountability. Although, accountabililty is not stressed through the websites,
however, I fully believe they it can be accomplished through small groups. Through the
gathering of individuals from small groups places accountability on every individual that
is involved. When someone is absent for whatever apparent reason the group member
is able to contact them. However, accountability runs deeper than showing up for an
event. It can run through spiritual growth, personal struggles as well. Yet, the group
members will probably be in close relationship with one another and share their
personal struggles as the group progress, due to the bond-ship.
Describe what you have learned from these church websites and your readings
that will help you in ministry now and in the future:
Ministry is a work within itself. It takes dedicated individuals with selfless hearts, to
perfect the work of God. Each church brought a different look to the ministry. Every
church is not going to be alike in structure, leadership and doctrine, but the main focus
should always be in Jesus Christ. What I learn is how to develop different types of
ministries that will benefit everyone in the congregation. Although, it will take
persistence to push the members to excel in their gift or even to step up and be used by
the Almighty God. The churches didn't let their four walls hinder them from serving the
community in which, one stated that they go beyond the four walls to share the Gospel.
One of the biggest things for me not to do is to get discouraged from small beginnings.
I'm sure Rick Warren didn't start off from where he is today. I once heard a phrase, don't
be discouraged by small beginnings. It only encourages me when I see such Well
Organized websites, that have tons of ministries for their people. It was a good
experience researching these, churches and I'm glad I did.
