Abstract
Today, there is a great divide on the topic of sex and human sexuality. The word sex is connected
to biology and is identified by gender. Male or female are the options for sex, or gender.
Sexuality, however, is connected to one’s proclivity or attraction to those of the opposite or same
sex, or gender. Many worldviews exist concerning the topic of sexuality. These worldviews
derive from a pluralistic, naturalistic, and humanistic point of view. There also exists a Christian
worldview that differs vastly from what one may call a carnal worldview. Sex and sexuality have
been at the center of great joy and great pain. Sex, used within the confines of God’s original
plan for it, has been something of great benefit to humanity. However, when abused, sex can and
has been harmful and destructive. Sex and sexuality will be discussed at greater lengths in this
paper. I will delve deeper into the original intentions of sex, the harmful misuse of sex, and the
different perspectives of sexuality. God’s design for sex is critical in understanding sex and
sexuality at its foundation. One of the many ways people can be harmed by the misuse of sex
will be explored in depth and evaluated. I will share my own personal theological view of
sexuality based on my relationship with God and the way I came to understand it.
