Module/Week 2.
In the first 2 Chapters of “A Woman and Her God” the authors discuss issues of
identity and ministry. Consider your own life. How do you personally foster a heart
for the lost, and how is your spiritual life impacting your ability to minister to
others?
In considering my own life, the way in which I foster a heart for the lost is similar
to the ministry of Jesus Himself. Moore explains that Jesus simply ignored the views of
others choosing instead to declare the inherent worth of all (Moore & American
Association of Christian Counselors, 2003, p. 25). We as a people have become entirely
too consumed with defining one another by societal standards. Rather than uniting one to
another, functioning as members of the collective body of Christ, we instead further
segregate ourselves limiting our reach amongst the lost.
A surrender of all judgment and a commitment to unconditionally extend love to
all children of Christ indeed impacts my own spiritual life as well as my ability to
minister to others. The impacts are both positive as well as negative and I find that I must
be abundantly mindful in remembering to care for myself as I care for others. While I
have been called to love, I have also been called to faithfulness. A ministry devoted to
reaching into the darkness requires constant devotion to the instruction of Proverbs 4:23
to guard ones heart in all things.
Moore suggests a consideration of the triad ministry of Christ, inclusive of a
vision, a passion, and a mission (2003, p. 32). Our vision as children of Christ is to see all
among the Kingdom of God, our passion therefore becomes bringing the Gospel to all,
and ministry thus becomes our mission. Vision begets passion, passion begets mission,
and mission begets purpose. Children of Christ are called to live a purpose driven life.
The ability to live such a life flows from an affirmation of the fullness of life that can
only be afforded through the indwelling of Christ (2003, p. 15).

confirmation of the truths of God’s word about all that is and is to come. Are we not told
that such hard heartedness is to be expected? Are we not told that many will make false
proclamations of faithful devotions to Christ but yet they are wicked and corrupt? The
Bible opens with why such is, and why it always has been. The “cup” in which Moore
describes as thirsting to be filled, is our longings and our desires (Moore & American
Association of Christian Counselors, 2003, p. 9). Some for material possessions, others
for power and prestige, but the one thing most thirst for, what the desire above all else to
fill their cup, is knowledge and understanding. It is a lack of trust in God alone to fill our
cup that causes us to thirst to the point of sinfulness. Adam and Eve were the first to
suffer the repercussions of a lack of such faithfulness. The unholy desires on mankind
While I agree that the current state of our society is concerning, I believe it to be
forever more are resultant of the fall and prophesized as to be not on anticipated, but to
ultimately lead to the second coming of Christ.

I believe that the reason that Jesus chose not to discount the value of women is due to
relevant, Biblical truth. The twenty-seventh verse of the first chapter of Genesis attest,
that all of mankind, man and woman, are both created in the image of God. Reflecting the
very image of God, the difference in how all interpret the whole of Biblical truths as well
as individual worth is absolutely the intent of His will. Men and women are equally
endowed, empowered and indeed called to reach others in the advancement of the
Kingdom of God. How abundantly magnificent that God has positioned you to reach the
youth of the nation. Recognition of the inherent endowment of balanced excellence
amongst male and female from juvenile innocence into confident identity in Christ is
undoubtedly a gift. The additional inheritance of opportunities to witness among the
brokenhearted, anxious, and ill informed further evidences God’s direction of your life.
Such bequest solidifies devotions to allowing God alone to fill the internal cup in which
Moore describes (Moore & American Association of Christian Counselors, 2003, p. 9).
Not only is your own thirst for the God indisputable but overflowing, you assist Him in
filling the cups of others.

I am abundantly grateful that I was afford the impartations of wisdom from a Spirit filled,
Bible teaching male who explained the truthful context of these verses. So often the ill
informed manipulate the rebuke of these passages making them about something that
they are not. Dedication to faithful attempts to understand the fullness of God’s Word
appreciates the historical ambiance of the audience in which these verse address. The
original text belonged to the Pastoral Epistles, letters written to encourage and instruct
young church leaders. These latter counter the Gnostic teachings that arose sometimes
after A.D. 100. The church had grown chaotic and respect for truths were slowly
abandoned. Women had taken to challenging the authority of leadership and gossiped
amongst themselves and spreading mistruths. The censure of these women was
contextual to the specific problem of the era and not to all women forever more. The
acknowledged tendency of Christ to denounce the common trend of devaluing women as
Moore mentions is due to relevant, Biblical truth (Moore & American Association of
Christian Counselors, 2003, p. 25). The twenty-seventh verse of the first chapter of
Genesis attest, that all of mankind, man and woman, are both created in the image of
God. Reflecting the very image of God, the difference in how all interpret the whole of
Biblical truths as well as individual worth is absolutely the intent of His will. Men and
women are equally endowed, empowered and indeed called to reach others in the
advancement of the Kingdom of God.
