Acts Flow Chart
1. Jesus ascends and sends the Holy Spirit.
Key verse: “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be
witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part
of the earth” (Acts 1:8).
a. Jesus tells the Apostles that they will be baptized by the Holy Spirit.
b. Jesus commissions the Apostles to spread the Gospel and then is taken up into a cloud.
c. Matthias is named the 12th Apostle, replacing Judas.
2. The birth and growth of the early church.
Key verse: “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as
the Spirit gave them utterance” (Acts 2:4).
a. The spirit of being on one accord.
b. Conviction and reception of the word.
c. True fellowship.
3. Peter continues the work through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Key verse: “And his name through faith in his name made this man strong, whom ye see and
know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you
all (Acts 3:16).
a. Peter heals the cripple beggar besides the temple
gate. and the man’s faith in Him.
b. Peter makes sure that the Jews know that this was done not by hands but by the power of Jesus
c. Peter preaches to the crowd and tells them to repent and turn to God.
4. The triumphant over persecution of the Gospel.
Key verse: “And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now
eventide” (Acts 4:3).
a. Peter and John are arrested for healing and preaching.
b. The power of God.
c. Taking care of those in need.
5. Disruption and disobedience within the church.
Key verse: “Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather
than men” (Acts 5:29).
a. Ananias does not present the correct tithe to the church.
b. The apostles are arrested by the high priest and his officials.
c. The apostles were saved from execution by Gameliel.
6. The government of the church was set up, and Stephen was arrested.
Key verse: “And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in
Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of priests was obedient to the faith” (Acts 6:7).
a. The apostles give seven men the job of handling the food.
b. Stephen was one of the men chosen, began to debate his faith with other Jews.
c. Stephen is falsely accused of blasphemy against Moses and God.
7. Stephen is martyred.
Key verse: “But he, being full of the Holt Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory
of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God” (Acts 7:55).
a. Stephen begins to plead his case to the council.
b. After looking to heaven, Stephen tells the council what he sees.
c. The council drags Stephen out and stones him, making him the first Christian martyr.
8. The gospel is moved to Judea and Samaria.
Key verse: “And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great
persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad
throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles” (Acts 8:1).
a. When the persecution of the Christians began the believers scattered throughout Judean
and Samaria.
b. Saul brings havoc upon the church.
c. Phillip witnesses to the Ethiopian eunuch.
9. Saul is miraculously converted.
Key verse: “And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest:
it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks” (Acts 9:5).
a. Jesus confronts Saul on the road to Damascus and blinds him.
b. The lord instructs Ananias to go to Saul and lay hands on him.
c. Saul commits to his calling.
10. The gospel goes out to the Gentiles.
Key verse: “And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with
Peter, became that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost” (Acts 10:45).
a. Cornelius has a vision and an angel tells him to send for Peter.
b. Peter opens the door for the Gentiles.
c. Cornelius and his household receive the word of God and is baptized by the Holy Spirit.
11. Peter defends his actions with Cornelius.
Key verse: “When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, by saying, Then
hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life: (Acts 11:18).
a. Peter teaches the main lessons of his experience, that God has cleansed all food.
b. Peter explains to the Jewish believers in Jerusalem that since God gave the Gentiles the gift
of the spirit he could not stand in the way.
c. Peter points to the divine origin and the history of salvation.
12. Peter is freed by an angel and appears to his friends.
Key verse: “And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison:
and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off
from his hands” (Acts 12:7).
a. Peter is in prison in Jerusalem and chained between two soldiers.
b. The angel disappears and Peter finally realizes he is not dreaming.
c. Peter rushes to the house of Mary, the mother of John Mark.
13. Paul and Barnabas commissioned to take the Word to the world.
Key verse: “For so had the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles,
that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth” (Acts 13:47).
a. As Christ ministers’ they are made both able and willing for service.
b. Paul and Barnabas are commissioned by the Church of Antioch and set off on the
first missionary journey.
c. Those came to Christ whom the Father drew, and to whom the Spirit made the gospel
call effectual.
14. The expectation of preaching and witnessing.
Key verse: “But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected
against the brethren” (Acts 14:2).
a. The Jews put a question into the minds of the Gentiles who was no familiar with the Scriptures.
b. Some believed, and some did not believe. And those that did not believe used every
pressure available to them to try to keep the others from believing.
