Abstract
Researchers use case study protocols guide data collection from one or multiple cases. Parts of to
a protocol are the overview, data collection procedures, protocol questions, and a report outline.
A pilot study is implemented before the implementation of the main study. Pilot case studies are
conducted to improve data collection plans, create relevant research questions, improve study
design, and test a study's feasibility. Six case study evidence sources are documentation, direct
observation, participant observation, archival records, interviewing, and physical or cultural
artifacts. Triangulation regards gathering data from multiple evidence sources. Triangulation
helps overcome the limitations of a single source and verify evidence. A case study database’s
intended goals in an investigation are the organization and documentation of gathered evidence.
An exploratory case study helps determine whether there is a need to further investigate a
research topic. A Christian researcher must be guided by the integrity principle in collecting
evidence to answer a research question and report findings from their data analysis.
