Identify and discuss 2 or 3 major insights from Keller (chapters 5-8) as applied to employee
performance management and appraisal processes (Valentine chapter 10).
The management of an organization is responsible for the development of activities that
are carried out to help boost the performance of staff members at work. The organization sets
some objectives that should be achieved in a given period. The employees have to work towards
achieving the set goals at the end of the specified period. These sets of activities form part of the
performance management of the business institution (Valentine et al., 2020). Each company sets
its goals with the aim of achieving them. The leaders of an organization manage employee
performance to ensure workers carry out their specified tasks and roles. The activities of the
organization must be carried out diligently to make the set performance goals a reality.
Appraisal processes are carried out in a company as part of employee management
practices. For example, performance appraisals are conducted to evaluate whether the workers
are performing their duties effectively. When measuring performance, an institution sets certain
standards that employees are expected to meet. The performance of employees is then compared
to the set standards. Workers are then informed about their performance based on the outcomings
obtained from the comparison (Valentine et al., 2020). It is necessary to motivate employees
with good performance through means such as promotions or increments in salary. However, for
