Brittany,
One of the things that you found more critical from the text is that individuals should
work to give back. I agree, and two journal articles contribute to this topic. Rey-Martí et al.
(2016) mention that social entrepreneurship is a relatively young topic that is becoming
popular because many new business owners seek to create ventures that only led to profit and
add value to society. The authors mention that when an entrepreneur receives financial support,
it helps grow the company, creates jobs, and reduces unemployment.
Stephan et al. (2016) help to understand the relationship between market-based
organizations and society by embracing a broader view of the organization to contribute to
societal well-being. The authors developed a framework supporting organizational practices that
enhance quality, timing, and reach of social impact. It is essential to move beyond traditional
approaches and motivate the organization to engage in activities that benefit society.

Michael,
I agree when you say that we can integrate our work with God’s purpose to achieve
lasting value. Eabrasu (2019) talks about the relationship between God and management and
applying religious principles and virtues to business. The authors explain that faith might
indirectly influence business activity as it puts believers in a better position than nonbelievers.
For example, executives with a conception of God have a stronger orientation toward socially
responsible business conduct. Business professionals have a career that allows them to directly
or indirectly impact society by creating solutions to multiple problems. Social innovation is a
process driven by human relations, morality, and creative capacity between business and social
actors who carry ideas and create new complementarities to attack social problems (Martinez et
al., 2017). This helps managers understand that there is a way to engage with the community and
work for God by addressing social and environmental problems.
