It is important that when selecting projects all possible information is available about the
project. Many times organizations have more than one project to choose from which makes it
hard because each project comes with its own merit. However, based on resources or lack thereof
all projects cannot be undertaken therefore projects must be prioritized using the most suitable
selection process (Jafarzadeh et al., 2022). Project prioritization is never easy and throughout the
years there have been many developments as to what techniques or methods can be used to
evaluate projects and their importance. Project selection and prioritization plays an important
role for organizations to have competitive advantage. According to Flechas Chaparro and de
Vasconcelos Gomes, (2019), the process by which company’s select projects is known as Project
portfolio selection in which there is a pool of projects that managers choose from. This process
however, can be difficult as the information that is needed to determine whether or not a project
is going to be successful is near impossible to get and many times the volatility or uncertainty of
the market creates a hindrance. Matthew 6:33 “ But seek his kingdom and his righteousness and
all these things will be given to you as well .” ( New International Version, 1973-78/2011). This
verse teaches us to prioritize God first, live a life of repentance, lead from the heart and
everything else will follow. We must seek to understand the importance of projects before
making decisions that will affect everything and everyone.
Below is a list of projects that were evaluated using a project evaluation form. These
projects were ranked based on their ability to meet the needs and wants objectives of the
organization and their ability to be a success.
Project proposal priority 1: Keiko-One Whale of a story
This film was ranked # 1 on the list. The film met all the must and want objectives that
the firm put forth. It is a big budget film with state of the art technology to create high level
animated scenes which puts it in a good position to win an award. With this film there is a 50%
chance of getting an ROI of 18%. The film has the ability to generate new merchandise and
creates an opportunity for the company to provide new theme rides. It also has a high potential of
raising environmental concerns to the public.
Project proposal priority 2:Escape from Rio Japuni
This project has the ability to go far and capture the young audience. It has a 50% chance
of generating profits greater than 18% and it meets all the must and the majority of the want
objectives of the company, but does not have the potential to create an advanced state of film
animation. It has the ability to capture the audience while providing opportunities for the
company to create additional merchandise and theme rides.
Project proposal priority 3: Heidi
This is a big budget film that has the funding to “splurge” on high end tools and
technology inorder to create a film that is of high quality which puts it on track to be in
contention to win awards. With the cast being highly recognizable and a big budget, this film has
a 50% chance of generating profits greater than 18% . It has the ability of raising public
awareness on environmental concerns because filming is being filmed in the Alps.
Project proposal priority 4: My LIfe with Dalai Lama
This project was ranked #4 on the priority evaluation form. It met all the company’s must
have objectives, however, it lacked the ability to meet some of the want objectives, thus scoring
240. For an animated film it needs to be creative with the animals and how the tale is told and the
use of state of the art tools to portray the story in an animated fashion that will grasp the
audience's attention. This film only has a 20% chance of getting a ROI greater than 18%.
Project proposal priority 5: Grand Island
Although this project tends to highlight and raise public consciousness about
environmental issues, its potential to generate profits greater than 18% has only a 20%
probability. It does meet all the must objectives but unfortunately only meets one of the haves.
For these reasons this film scored only a 110 on the evaluation form.
Project proposal priority 6:Nadia!
With this film being a documentary the possibility of it winning any form of animated
awards is slim. It has the potential to generate additional merchandise because of its focus on a
little gymnastic girl, however, it only has a 20% chance of getting a ROI greater than 18%. Thus
this is ranked # 6 on the list.
Project proposal priority 7:The year of the Echo
This project is a documentary film with a low budget so the odds of winning best picture
is low due to the budgetary constraints and not much wiggle room to splurge on tools and
technology to develop a start of the art film. The project also lacks the ability to meet any of the
must haves and must objectives of the company. Thus the weighted score was the lowest and it
fell to # 7 on the list.
