The authors in this paper explore the British carpet industry sustainable manufacturing
goal that includes a green element in the production planning processes using a green
balanced scorecard. The company under evaluation attempts to meet the stringent
standards of the Carpet and Rug Institute Green Label Plus program that contributes to a
healthy indoor environment. This case study of the manufacturing industry uses a green
balanced scorecard to make consistent, timely, and accurate data flow information from
cross-functional areas of the business to design a collaborative decision-making
approach. A focus group within the manufacturing company considers decision-making
support of green supply chain items for purchase. The results of this study suggests that
collaborative-decision making assisted in identifying items to purchase across the supply
chain to assist in control measures for management.

This article examines the relationship between customer loyalty and an organization
ability to add value creation to its products or services. The authors suggest that customer
loyalty is a valuable intangible asset to any organization, because of the customer’s
attitudinal and behavioral characteristics to the organization’s value creation it adds to
their products or services. The article suggests that numerous research studies or
investigations relate customer loyalty to perceived value, satisfaction, and quality of an
organization’s product or service. The authors make the point that from a managerial
viewpoint, customer loyalty influences an organizations ability to be successful and
competitive.

The authors in this research paper discuss the relationship between companies and their
customers regarding information about the companies’ products or services offered to the
customers and the customer’s level of satisfaction, perceived value, and personal loyalty.
The authors suggest that a customer willingness to share this information depends on
trust and privacy apprehensions. The study uses surveys from two retailing groups do-it-
yourself (DIY) and grocery stores. The two groups present some differences as to a
customer willingness to share information, but each group confirms that the willingness
to share information is important to achieving brand loyalty with a company. Therefore,
customers’ willingness to share information in driving loyalty and its relationship with
perceived value and satisfaction in a retailing is a reality for companies’ competitiveness

This study examines four methods for measuring customer value and the predictive
ability of these different methods on such variables as repurchase intention, word of
mouth, and customer satisfaction. The authors suggest that in today’s business
environment exists extreme competition, which customer values are more demanding and
an organization’s ability to assess and understand these customer values is critical for
success. The study also suggests that customer value is a personal characteristic perceived

by the individual customer. These four methods receive comparison on their action ability
and practicality concerning costs and benefits, which allows an organization to choose the
optimal customer value measurement method for competitiveness in a global business
environment.
Perkins, M., Grey, A., & Remmers, H. (2014). What do we really mean by "Balanced
Scorecard"? International Journal of Productivity and Performance Management, 63(2),
148-169. doi:10.1108/IJPPM-11-2012-0127
In this literature review, the authors discuss the development of the balance scorecard
concept and its original aim to provide managers with comprehensive data about their
organization’s business financial and non-financial quickly. The authors specifically
narrow down the different iterations of the balance scorecard in order to evaluate
implementation of the concept. In addition, determine whether the concept actually
benefits an organization by increasing efficiency and profits. The authors discovered
during their research that there is primarily three major generations of the balance
scorecard. The first generation balanced scorecards (BSC 1.0) highlights the need for
manager to link all four perspectives of the scorecard together (customer, internal
business, innovation and learning, and financial). Within the same generation, BSC 1.01,
1.1, and 1.2 highlights the need for managers to focus more on using the balance
scorecard as a strategic tool to measure performance. BSC 2.0 begins the evolution of the
next generation focusing on the introduction of the strategy map. The last generation of
balance scorecard BSC 3.0 defines a new key concept “destination statement” that

describes what an organization expects to look like in the future. In conclusion, the
balance scorecard evolution has went from simple to complex performance management.

underconfidence on consumer value. Psychology & Marketing, 32(4), 392-407.
doi:10.1002/mar.20787
The authors in this paper examine and investigate an organizations knowledge of
customer perceived values of their products or services and how overconfidence and
under confidence results in marketing miscalculations. Although promotional strategies
utilization persuades consumers buying habits, these strategies lead to possible inaccurate
product or service knowledge. The authors distinctly suggest the knowledge of
overconfidence and under confidence of consumer value receive different consumption
consequences. This study by the authors consist of a one on under confidence resulting in
a single negative effect on play and the second study on overconfidence resulting in two
negative effects of aesthetics and excellence. Overall, the research concludes that
overconfidence and under confidence lead to a lower perception on some aspects of
customer value.

effect relationship between strategies and processes. The authors applied the data
envelopment analyses model to calculate the efficiency score of a supply chain
performance as a method in this paper. The data envelopment analysis is a linear
programming based methodology that can evaluate decision making unit's qualitatively
and quantitatively in order to calculate multiple inputs and outputs. The study analyzes 22
supply chains of Iranian food industries using 258 questionnaires to determine their
efficiency metrics. In conclusion, the data envelopment analysis concludes that managers
emphasize learning growth less than normal and their primary focus is on the customers.

The authors in the paper discuss how the Six Sigma DMAIC method leads to
improvement in an organization performance and the fact that these two still need clear
explanation and developing. The authors further explore the elements of each process that
make their process and attempt to understand their interaction. The study suggests that
knowledge-based theory is a strategic resource that firms use to develop sustained
competitive capability. The article focuses on gaining an understanding of the effect of
internalization, socialization, and externalization processes of knowledge acquired from
previous successful Six Sigma projects. The author’s research methodology includes
collecting and analyzing information gathered using the survey method with a Likert
scale of 364 participants. The results suggest that internalization, socialization, and

performance. Industrial Management & Data Systems, 114(1), 123-143.
doi:10.1108/IMDS-03-2013-0135
In this literature review, the authors use data envelopment analysis along with the balance
scorecard to evaluate the operational efficiency of a highly competitive global air
transport industry. The literature review utilizes 38 major airlines from all over the world
to develop a model to assess their relative performance. The data envelopment analysis
implements two variables leading and lagging by showing how each influence and relate
to the other. The authors presents information on efficiency frontiers, benchmarking, and
output and input slack along with the seven leading variable and four lagging variables
chosen. There were four major characteristics, such as, region, employee size, fleet size,
and number passenger use to make similar comparison between the airlines. The results
of the study suggest that airlines with excellent performance in the efficient frontiers
perform better in energy, capital, and other operating costs.

The research in this literature review contributes to the concept of customer perceived
value as a key source for a business to obtain a competitive advantage in the context or
relationship marketing, management, and business models as avenues to further future
research. The authors suggest that further research needs conducting on consumer
purchasing, decision making, and behavior to assist in understanding the fundamentals of
customer perceived value. The authors believe that past research on customer perceived
values fail comprehensively to discuss three major issue dimensionality, level of
abstraction, and model taxonomy. Therefore, this is the major focus of this paper to
determine what is the current predominant understanding of the dimensionality,
abstraction, and model taxonomy of customer perceived value.
