Company history
Tesla (TSLA), is based out of San Carlos, California, is a fairly young corporation having
only been established in 2003 by engineers Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning. The company
was found as Tesla Motors, and changed to Tesla, Inc during 2017. The basis for the company
name comes from the inventor, Nikola Tesla, who worked in properties of electromagnetic
fields. The research he did in has been utilized in electrical transmission work today.
"Tesla’s mission is to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy” (Tesla,
2021). Tesla Inc had a plan to enter the market at the high end and then use the leverage from
these sales to create more affordable models. The company is condiment they can attract
consumers to a more sustainable vehicle through the presentation of their product that offers zero
emissions without sacrificing performance. Eberhard and Tarpenning designed their first
completely electric car in 2006, the Tesla Roadster. The company achieved something that had
not been done before due to the difficulty of finding a battery design strong enough to power a
vehicle with desirable performance.
A main objective for the company is to generate demand that drives sales increases for
their electric car. Last year the company proudly achieved one-quarter of electric car sales
