Business Discussion Questions
Why is shared information so important in a learning organization in comparison to an
efficient performance organization? Discuss how an organization’s approach to sharing
information may be related to other elements of organization design such as: structure,
tasks, strategy, and culture.
Learning organizations mainly focus on acquiring, transferring, and creating or
modifying organizational knowledge to reflect new insights and behavior. Employees are
trained to continually improve their capacity to produce results the organization wants. Also,
expansive thinking is encouraged and employees take steps to foster unity of purpose
(Hughes, 2018). On the other hand, efficient performance organizations focus on ensuring
employees can accomplish their organizational tasks using the least amount of effort, time,
and finances while maintaining the quality of the work. The organization emphasizes
efficiency and effectiveness to achieve its business goals or objectives (Hughes, 2018).
