As the manager and also the researcher, the manufacturing company places a lot of
expectations and goals for someone in leadership. Being the manager, you are held at a high
standard of being the expert in the field and being the most experienced. As a manager, you will
only be successful as your team. So, knowing who staff is very important. Like you stated in
your response, “I will need to select a few other high-quality employees who have either a
different amount or type of sales experience than I do to ensure that the research study has an
optimal chance of success” (Browning Jr., 2018). I agree completely with this response. As a
manger, you have to be humble enough to know that you do not have all the answers, while
knowing your team and knowing what each person’s strength and weakness is. Being this type
of leader, not only allows the team to be successful in cinducting a research study to estimate the
sales of our products in the domestic market.
In the article entitled, Ethics Management for Public and Nonprofit Managers, by Donald
C. Menzel brings up the significance of being a leader with integrity. I chose this article to
support my views on your response, because a leader with integrity can also tie into the fact that
there is a manager who has been appointed over a group to complete a report for the company. In
order for the mnger/researcher to create a successful report with his/her team, the manager must
have integrity to give credit to where it’s due to his/her team. “demonstrating personal integrity
requires:
(1) taking personal responsibility for errors one may commit; (2)
recognizing and crediting others for their work and contributions to the
organization’s mission; (3) guarding against any conflict of interest or its
appearance; and (4) being respectful of subordinates, colleagues, and the public”
(Menzel, 2017).
The only weakness I would say for your response is the fact that you did not discuss any
of the concerns arising from the fact that you, the manager are also the researcher. For example,
researcher’s bias.
