US HEALTHCARE SYSTEM
Discussion the US healthcare system
In the healthcare sector, the attainment of a common goal depends on the systems
integrated to allow the system to evaluate the current healthcare delivery system and ensure
improved quality (Abraham, Chatterjee & Sims, 2019). You make a good start by mentioning
cost and quality as the primary outcome criteria that may assist in assessing the healthcare
delivery system and what it entails. In the healthcare system, the practitioners and involved
stakeholders have to work hard to attain some of the primary objectives that define the system
(Papavasiliou, Reaiche & Papavasiliou, 2021). I agree with your statement that the healthcare
delivery system works hard towards attaining the required healthcare services that may benefit
the patients. Also, it is worth noting that the delivery of those health services at an affordable rate
that addresses the current needs and considers the predefined standards and quality in the
healthcare system. Big data is the other requirement in medical research and medical research
that offers extensive voluminous data that researchers in this field may rely on when making the
right choice concerning patient treatment. I agree with your statement that the 1980s marked the
time when American based scientists and physicians designed ways to promote computer
application in the healthcare sector to promote healthcare delivery and ensure that the services
that patients received addressed all their needs. The creation of the internet of things and
evolution in the healthcare sector has also played an essential role in facilitating the system's
growth and resolving most of the current health needs.
You make a good point that health information management was developed in 1928, and
it works towards the attainment of patient care and standardizing the approaches to information
management. From your post, one can learn that the Association of Record Librarians of North
American (ARLNA), which changed its name to the American Health Information Management

Association (AHIMA), is currently responsible for undertaking complex tasks the healthcare
sector that promotes continuity of the healthcare sector. The organization's primary strategy to
promote productivity and notable change is through the organized research, providing education
and critical professional practices that the healthcare sector relies on when offering the necessary
health services. Concerning the organizations in the US healthcare sector, you state that there are
two major firms. One of the firms accredits the HIM and HI programs, where the other
organization accredits AHIMA’s commission and the CCHIIM. From your post, one can learn
one of the differences between the HIMSS and CAHIIM. I agree with your argument that the
HIMSS is responsible for providing HI professional certification. Simultaneously, the academic
programs are only accredited by the Commission on Certification for Health Informatics and
Information Management (CCHIIM).
In the healthcare sector, certification for professionals is one factor that allows one to
work in the industry and offer health-related services to patients (Kadhim et al., 2020). I agree
with your statement that it is the role of the AHIMA and HIMSS to offer professional
certification for stakeholders in the healthcare sector. Based on the benefits you realized as a
result of being part of one of the organizations, you advise other learners to join and be part of
the healthcare community. The main benefit that one gain from being part of the communities in
the lower member fees is for the learners. Since the healthcare sector is highly dependent on the
technology used to improve the quality of output and resolve most of the patients' challenges,
learners need to embrace the positive changes recorded in the modern-day healthcare system. I
agree with your statement that the ever-changing healthcare sector calls for the implementation
of tools that will promote positive changes and management of most barriers in healthcare
settings.
