Introduction
Wegmans Food Market Inc. is a prestigious grocery chain in the United States that hold a
compact reputation for presenting its customers lower cost and greater quality goods with a
combination of excellent services. According to a study taken place June 2018, “A survey of
more than 12,000 consumers nationwide conducted by Market Force Information ranks
Wegmans #1 for America’s Favorite Supermarket” (Wegmans, 2019, para. 14). June 2018 This
local supermarket has 96 stores in 6 states and 48,000 employees. It is one of the largest private
companies in the United States. The Wegmans Food Market Inc. is a family-run business that
was at first established as the Rochester Ovary and Herbal Business in 1916 in Rochester, NY.
Through the years of hard work and dedication, this organization has grown tremendously. It is a
major supermarket located in the northeast of the USA. These markets are bigger than the
average markets being that they are 75,000 to 140,000 square feet per store. “Wegmans raises the
bar on the shopping experience: the best quality; a spectacular abundance of choice; restaurant-
quality prepared foods; beautiful stores and displays; and a nearly telepathic level of customer
service” (Wegman’s, 2019, para. 6). They also offer an enormous variety of produce that other
stores do not offer, having 50,000 to 70,000 products in each store. The Wegmans market was
created to mirror the looks and to give a sensation of a European open market that offers fresh
foods including fresh produce, artisan breads, meat, fresh-caught seafood, deli products and
imported cheeses. Though, Wegmans is a company that is thriving and expanding, there are
