Biblical Stewardship
One can apply the concept of biblical stewardship in life by being a good time manager
and ensuring they make good use of God-given time. It means taking care of God's resources for
purposes of bettering life and productivity. According to biblical stewardship, your business
belongs to God, so you are a caretaker of God's business (Martin, 1991).
While the biblical stewardship theory is true to some extent, sometimes business managers
and people generally act in their selfish interests and not in the interests of the business they
manage. Business owners often do not see themselves as managers of God's business, but they
protect the interests of the business because they own it. It is, therefore, not easy to tell if one is a
good steward or a good manager (Cannoy, 2020).
Stewardship calls for planning in business since God wants things done in order. Having
business plans and marketing plans are important for a business and its success. While proper
planning can be attributed to good stewardship, it can also result from good management skills. It
is, therefore, not very simple to point out the role played by stewardship in a business. However,
being a good steward means that your business is God's business, and you are a manager. You are
expected to bless others when God blesses you; therefore, the more God's business grows, the
more you are expected to help others (Martin,1991).
Biblical stewardship advocates for honesty and integrity, good stewards can run businesses
with a lot of integrity, and God expects them to ask for more business. God rewards stewardship
with success. Good stewards should be pleasant in their business undertakings and honor God in
their business operations (Cannoy,2020).
