Introduction
In the following essay, it will be proven that my chosen courses of Business and Health
care have given me the necessary tools and experience to excel as your new Health Care
Administrator Trainee. With years of experience and the addition of my coursework, I would be
a great addition to your organization. As an Interdisciplinarian, I will be the employee to think
out the box.
Business
Human Resource Management courses were important because it helped me with
one of the most important areas of a business. Employees count on the Human Resource
department to help educate them on benefits being offered. Human Resource Manger must be
able to be compassionate, stern, and still focus on the needs of the employee and candidate.
Coursework in Principles of management built the foundation to make me into a better manager.
I learned how management deals with employees. The types of roles and managing styles all are
important because each employee made need to be handled in a different manner.
In addition to Human Resource Management classes, coursework in business
documentation and business law helped to learn about different liabilities, contracts and matter
that could affect the business on a day to day basis. Business documentation prepared me with
the skills to effectively manage business documents from memos to spreadsheets. Effective
documentation, preparation and proofreading can make or break a business. When dealing with
contracts or health care documentation, one word can change a whole contract. Speech
coursework has given me the tools to effectively address a large audience without fear. It has also
allowed me to vary my speech to meet the crowds when dealing with people from different
backgrounds. As a Healthcare Administrator, it important to know all aspects of health care.

Being able to deal with employees and business colleagues from all different backgrounds is a
skill that is much needed. Often, if administration is bad, it can have a trickle effect on the
company. By having the best administration and leadership, business can flourish daily.
My working as a Business Office Manager for Home Health agency, I have had the
opportunity to use these skills in a real time environment. By having experience in patient care,
finance, and business it made daily operations easier for me. I look forward to using all these
skills as your new Health care Administrator.
Health care
When one thinks of health care, they mostly think of doctors and nurses.
However, that is not the case. Health care is majority all about business. Healthcare is an
extremely competitive and challenging field. However, what makes me stand out as an
exceptional candidate for the Health Care Administrator Training program is my diverse
background. Initially I wanted to be a nurse, but I found that my passion is in management. I
have had the opportunity to work as a certified nursing assistant and medical assistant. The
reason I chose to focus on health care was my experience as a Health Care Specialist in the
United States Army. As a Health Care Specialist, I learned to work well under stressful combat
environment. It taught me to make quick decisions and delate as needed. These skills are
important in business and management as well. My health care course work included
pharmacology which taught me how important understanding how drug calculation, sales,
distribution, all can be detrimental to the health care environment.
Law and Ethics of Health care course work has taught me about liability, assets, and
ethical issues that are relevant to the business environment today. Society today have become

prone to lawsuits from civil to medical malpractice. It is good to know how to avoid litigation. If
litigation cannot be avoided, then it good to know how to deal with it. As a Chronic Care
Manager, I worked with different patients from all backgrounds. I have experience in handling
confidential documents.
Conclusion
In conclusion, my diverse background, and fields of study all combined make me an
exceptional candidate to your program. Business and Health care go hand in hand. Health care
is about providing what the patient and customer needs. However, without the business aspect of
it, the business cannot be successful. As an interdisciplinary degree student, I have built a strong
background in several different areas of study. If given the opportunity to be a part of your team,
I believe you will see that your choice was the correct one.
