Title: The Ethical Implications of Data Privacy as an Issue in Enterprise Systems
Enterprise systems, also known as operational systems have emerged to be very
important within organizations of the present day and across various industrial sectors.
These end-to-end software solutions include functional practices like account, human
resource, supply chain management, and customer relationship management.
Enterprise systems have become invaluable assets to firms as they can collect,
process, and analyze large amounts of data for better results and performance.
But even this progressing process of enterprise system implementation also has
a lot of ethical considerations that need to be questioned. As such powerful systems
interactively integrate with business organizations and enter into decision control
systems at an organizational level, some negative impacts may arise in the areas of
data protection, employees, openness, accountability, environment, and society. These
ethical issues take a new perspective when framed by the Christian perspective, which
encourages people to be good shepherds in all the duties and responsibilities that have
been assigned to them.
Specifically, this essay will delve into the discussion of enterprise system ethics
and make use of biblical principles and values as a guide on how to address different
issues in the existence of such systems. Taking into consideration all how managers
can use enterprise systems that affect individuals, organizations, and the broader
society, one can get a more informative ethical lens view of certain technologies. Lastly,
this analysis will aim to stress how the utilization of these enterprise systems resonates
with this purpose to address the challenge of properly designing and deploying such
systems in a manner that fosters human flourishing and accountability to God’s
creation.
Data Privacy and Security
The importance of data privacy and security in the age of enterprise systems
Enterprise systems are now integrated into organizations and they cover large
areas of the business, which has meant that large amounts of personal information,
financial records, and business crucial data are now stored and processed. Such
systems provide a means for the storage and management of vast amounts of
information which is fundamental to various functions and processes of contemporary
organization. Nevertheless, given the fact that enterprises share a stupendous amount
and value of data with their systems, enterprise systems have also become a lucrative
proposition for hackers and other villains.
The constantly emerging risks of data leaks and cyber-crime pose severe risks to
the well-being of individuals and companies alike. This is especially true for sensitive
personal data which include, but are not limited to, social security numbers, banking
details, or health records that can be manipulated to fraudulently obtain benefits and
financial credit at the cost of the ID holder’s privacy and security. Likewise, the breach
or unauthorized use of an organization’s private information has economic costs,
compromises its competitiveness and reputation, and bears legal consequences.
The biblical outlook on data privacy and security
From the viewpoint of biblical teachings, data protection and privacy are equally
important as everything else since one has to be responsible and use resources wisely.
1 Peter 4:10 states, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good
stewards of God’s varied grace. ” Every organization/information owner should manage
information and everyone has a stewardship role in using it in the right way.
Further, sincerity and integrity should be practiced in all affairs, as well as
speaking the truth should always be practiced. Ephesians 4:25 tells us to “Therefore,
having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor. “
When it comes to enterprise systems and the information within such systems, the
ideals of honesty and integrity that are conveyed through biblical teachings should be
upheld.
Ethical responsibilities in the handling of data
Due to this, the organizations that have adopted enterprise systems have an
ethical obligation to guarantee that the sensitive data delivered to them are useful only
for the agreed purpose as well as are protected from misuse or malicious access. First
of all, it is crucial to note that organizations are obliged to take great care in defining the
particular objectives for the implementation of data collection, data processing, and
storage in the enterprise systems. Data should never be utilized in a manner that is not
required or in a way that exceeds or deviates from the expected norms, this is because
it will be unethical.
Second, organizations need to have strong guidelines delineated and
implemented to ensure that they will not be used and abused for several purposes. This
involves creating a high level of IT security by ensuring that there are rigorous access
control measures, the use of encryption, and solid data backup and recovery measures.
Moreover, measures to enhance and protect the employees who in a way handle
important information should be put in place, through conducting extensive training on
the importance of data security and taking legal action against a person who
compromises the group’s database.
The effects of negligence in the observance of data confidentiality and protection
Lack of consideration and regard for data privacies and security can lead to
adverse outcomes for people and companies. The leakage or misuse of such personal
details can have a severe impact on people’s lives and can entitle them to financial and
non-financial losses, identity theft, and severe emotional trauma. Thus, privacy insult
and the betrayal of confidence can have an immoral impact on a person’s feeling of
protection and safety.
In recent years, the effects of such data breaches and security failure have
become not only apparent in individual lives but in organizations as well. Besides the
immediate financial losses that entail remediation and possible legal actions when faced
with protests, there are non-financial losses such as the deterioration of an
organization’s credibility and decreased reputation imply the inability to efficiently
function in the market and retain competitiveness. Additionally, the negligence in
preventing the unauthorized access, stealing, and misuse of confidential information
can be regarded as a violation of ethical and biblical standards, which harms the
company’s reputation and erodes public confidence in the organization among its staff
members, clients, and other stakeholders.
Finally, the question of ethics concerning data privacy and security in the context
of the enterprise's system management is crucial. It is pertinent here to stress that by
adhering to all stewardship tenets, honesty, and integrity, organizations are not only
safeguarding information from exaggeration but also fostering the crucial premise of
trustworthiness to drive societal and organizational welfare into the future.
Impact on the Workforce
The potential for job displacement and disruption due to enterprise system
automation
The growing incorporation of enterprise systems in the global workforce may
bring about social repercussions such as displacing workers and disrupting the overall
workforce. A major advantage of these software programs is that they can perform
many tasks and processes that otherwise would have been lengthily done manually by
personnel. Technological advances and organizations’ need for efficiency mean that
over time, the tasks involved in processing data as well as analysis and decision have
gradually been absorbed and implemented by enterprise systems.
This automation can effectively bring about the displacement of some of the
positions, where human involvement in the tasks will be minimal. For instance, a
complex accounting system that permeates an organization may decrease the need for
junior number crunchers given that the system’s capacity to process ordinary
transactions and accounting records increases over time. Likewise, the digitization of
supply chain management operations as part of an enterprise system could deprive
organizations of the need for logisticians, inventory managers, or any other staff that
work in the supply chain division.
Finally, based on the considerations from the biblical view, enterprise system
automation that could potentially lead to job loss is a significant ethical concern.
However, efficiency and productivity can help organizations and from the human
perspective, one should consider the impacts which in turn consequences of losing jobs
and changes of careers. The Bible's emphasis on the dignity of work (Colossians 3:)
and the responsibility that men have to support their families (1 Timothy 5:8), it
becomes clear that enterprise systems' effects on the workforce should be of significant
interest to organizations and policymakers.
The biblical view on taking care of and helping one another in human society
Thus, from a biblical perspective, it is crucial to understand that the potential for
job displacement and disruption, as accompanied by enterprise system automation,
should be solved with passion and commitment to the inherent dignity and value of
every human being. The Bible instructs us to "Do nothing from selfish ambition or
conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you
look not only to his interests but also to the interests of others" (Philippians 2:3-4).
From the premise that every human being should be valued and that their lives
are to be protected even at the detriment of our own, it is possible to suggest the
following points for reflecting on the realities of enterprise system automation for
organizations and policymakers. Still, in place of the idea that workers are
interchangeable parts of a capitalist economy, there is a biblical imperative to bring
stewardship to bear on sustaining the labor force and promoting the welfare of workers
whose livelihoods might be disrupted or eliminated by automation.
This may entail creating effective retraining and resocialization policies to ensure
the workers are prepared to take on new roles. It may also act as a financial shield by
providing adequate compensation packages, unemployment benefits for often being
compensated with good or lavish severance packages, and more so enhanced health
cover to make sure that individuals who lose their jobs are adequately taken care of as
well as their dependents. Finally, the biblical worldview requires that we address this
issue with love, care, and concern for the well-being of every member of the
organization regardless of their rank or position.
Addressing the benefits of enterprise systems and the risks to workers
It must be noted that while the adoption of enterprise systems has been identified
as a way of enhancing the performances, and productivity of employees, and
organizational cost reductions among others, organizations must be cautious of the
social effects of enterprise systems on the employees. As a solution, organizations are
advised to consider investing in the retraining and reskilling of the employees through
re-tooling rather than direct disengagement through automation. Through proper
training of its employees, organizations can enable them to make a shift in their job
positions or in searching for job opportunities in other firms. This not only supports the
concept of dignity and worth of the person but also helps the organization to store
corporate memory and experience at the same time.
Moreover, more should be done to ensure that enterprise systems
implementation does not amount to the dehumanization of the workforce or even erode
the bare industrial relation basic need of workers to feel their worth and value. This may
entail creating a corporate culture that would embrace the human workforce and respect
their ability and potential despite the advancement and increased use of robotics in
production.
Thus, the teaching of the Scripture that one should care for and support one’s
neighbors must be the guiding principle when it comes to the use of enterprise systems.
Thus, locating the best way to leverage these strong tools and at the same time
ensuring the health and the human value of the employees will be the greatest
challenge for the organizations within this intricate context in terms of achieving both
effectiveness and an ethical standpoint whilst maintaining the maximum channel of
business economic success.
Responsible leadership in managing the effects of enterprise systems on the
workforce
When it comes to the management of organizations the experiences that
organizations undergo during the introduction of enterprise systems and the problems
that this brings to workers within organizations, there is an even greater need for
responsible leadership. As leaders who are informed by the Bible, this process should
be done with a sensitive and responsive heart toward the employees.
A major challenge that lies ahead of effective leaders is to increase meaningful
employee participation and build the skills of those who may be impacted by the
prospect of automation. This may entail the development of robust corporate policies in
manners that involve the tutors in formulating training and reskilling credentials for
employees to secure the skills needed for career re-tooling within the company and at
other places of work. Hence, there is a reason to believe that when leaders and
managers invest in their people’s professional development, they can show a genuine
concern for their welfare and care for their success in the era of disruption.
Thus, leaders responsible for the adoption of enterprise system automation must
develop and maintain a strong organizational culture that supports people affected by
such change. This may include offering big end-of-service benefits, extending health
insurance, and another form of financial and/ or moral support to the toppled employees
and their dependents. It could also mean establishing support structures such as the
development of mentors, help in the securing of a job, and other related services that
may be needed by those in transition so that they can secure meaningful jobs.
Ultimately, the biblical call to "bear one another's burdens" (Galatians 6:2) should
be the motivation of the leaders as they are designing and determining the end-use of
enterprise systems within their organizations. Through offering the respect and care of
their human assets they can make certain that these efficient instruments bring positive
changes in the optimum way possible, financially as well as liberally.
Transparency and Accountability
The impact of enterprise systems on decision-making
These opportunities can most assuredly reconfigure the decision-making process
of an organization and will create pressures regarding the legitimization of decisions.
There is also the problem of lack of transparency and sometimes convoluted
computation routines and methodologies used in enterprise systems that form
integrated platforms. Consequently, as these systems continue to evolve, and decision-
making in different processes and activities gets more automatic, this logic becomes
obscure to human beings in the system. This lack of traceability can lead to problems
for the decision-maker in fully comprehending the reasoning behind many of the
recommendations or actions proposed by the enterprise system; more worryingly, there
may be doubts as to the credibility of the information being processed to support major
organizational decisions.
Additionally, the problems of the objectivity and bias of the decisions made using
the enterprise systems, especially in cases when these systems operate over huge
datasets using machine learning algorithms, arise. When building this sort of enterprise
model, the usage of a biased or insufficient dataset or the application of a restrictive
algorithm, may lead to the reiteration of and even worsening discrimination within the
enterprise system and the market.
According to the scriptures, truth, integrity, and justice are vital principles that are
upheld in the scriptures and are characteristics of God, thus it points to the fact that
people should embrace transparency in decision-making. Leaders are called to make
decisions that are "true and righteous altogether" (Psalm 19:9), and to “judge with
righteous judgment”(John 7:24). The first threat to business in this area is that
enterprise systems could erode these principles, and this in turn requires adequate
protection through proper and keen mandatory standards and constant assessment of
the enterprise systems.
The biblical call for accountability and openness
The key to understanding the biblical view of choice and incumbent usage of
enterprise systems is the recognition and respect of the biblical command to answer to
God for everything one does. As the Apostle Paul reminds us, "For we must all appear
before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what
he has done in the body, whether good or evil" (2 Corinthians 5:10). This quote as
imperative discards with an important reminder that all our actions including those
promoted by the enterprise system have everlasting repercussions and should therefore
be taken as seriously as is warranted.
With this call for accountability, the Scriptures also support things being made
clear and open, for the benefit of being able to trust and have confidence in the people
within the community. The book of Proverbs instructs us to "Speak truth to your
neighbor" (Proverbs 12:17) and going further to describe such people as able “to walk in
integrity” (Proverbs 10:9) means that truth and being open are crucial commodities in
any given leadership and relationship processes.
When applied to the context of enterprise system implementation, this biblical
principle of transparency translates into the concept that organizations should attempt to
make the decision-making processes and the logic behind them as understandable as
possible. This may comprise developing strong governance structures, adopting check
and balance systems such as external auditors and independent monitors, and
reporting to stakeholders on main decisions taken that may have direct effects on their
future. In this context, organizations must promote transparency and accountability
inherent in enterprise systems to establish a culture of trust and confidence for the
realization of the opportune moments provided in the Scriptures for business
organizations and other stakeholders.
Strategies for ensuring transparency and accountability in enterprise systems
While many organizations are discovering the benefits of enterprise systems,
there is a need for good policies that need to be adopted in the use of such integrated
systems, to achieve accountability within the decision-making systems that are hiked by
such systems. One of them is the provision of detailed structures and mechanisms in
the aspect of governance to ensure that enterprise systems are developed, deployed,
and utilized in compliance with well-defined and recognized protocols, policies,
objectives, standards, and regulations. This may require the formation of cross-teams
and cross-department representative councils or steering committees and other subject-
matter consultants. Such bodies can be given the responsibility of overseeing the
continuing promotion and assessment of the enterprise systems to ascertain whether or
not they remain compatible with the relevant organizational values, ethical standards,
laws as well as regulations.
Second, cultural reasons dictate that organizations should ensure the decision
processes that underpin the development of their enterprise systems are explainable
and understandable. This may include the use of methods in explainable Artificial
Intelligence, where the logic of how the algorithms reach certain decisions has to be
made clear to the users. It may also embrace routine checks and validation processes
to confirm the integrity, impartiality, and commensurability of these systems’ results.
Last but not least, organizations also need to develop specific rules and
regulations for the implementation of enterprise systems at their workplaces regarding
the data handling methodology, the model-making criteria, and the decision-making
framework. Such policies need to be communicated and implemented starting with the
organizational employees, its customers, and the wider community to promote a
positive perception.
In adopting these measures, it is therefore possible to achieve the goals pursued
through such systems, which are based on the principles of the Holy Scriptures such as
honesty, integrity, and justice. This way they can earn the trust, confidence, and
credibility of their stakeholders, and make sure that the outcome of such technologies is
made possible with prevailing economic and ethical standards.
Ethical principles and values employed in the application of enterprise systems
As the number of organizations adopting enterprise systems into their strategic
toolkit for decision support grows, the need to ensure that such complex technologies
are designed and implemented in a way that reflects the organization’s ethical
standards and values becomes even more significant. Thus, its adoption must embody
and be directed by the faith in the Articles of Faith, proclamations, and covenants of the
Baptist denomination, virtue, honesty, and justice.
In the middle of this ethical paradox, there exists the ethical imperative of
ensuring that the decisions made through the use of enterprise systems align with the
organizational ethical system and the guiding organizational values. This may require
the underlying organizational frameworks and processes, such as decision-making
frameworks, to be developed with an ethical edge, for instance addressing bias and
discrimination and understanding the UN Sustainable Development Goals, among
others. Enterprise systems may also require conducting periodic assessments and
validations that ensure that the systems remain in compliance with the organizational
ethical policies.
Also, it is the responsibility of the leaders to ensure that ethical considerations
are well embraced throughout the entire organization whereby the users and producers
of enterprise systems are fully conversant with the ethical consequences of the enabled
decisions. It may include offering wide-ranging training and education to encourage
ethical behavior and reporting, and to provide clear structures that will give people a
way to report any unethical behavior they may observe around them.
When implemented and utilized as part of the enterprise system context, ethical
values and principles should be integrated into the enterprise system to enable the
technology to transform the organizations as intended and for the betterment of society
as a whole and by the Scriptures. This way, they can gain the trust and confidence of
the relevant business stakeholders, as well as achieve greater credibility about being
responsible members of society in the current globalized business environment.
Environmental Impact
Enterprise systems and their impact on the environment
With large enterprises gradually turning into global implementations of integrated
technology environments also known as enterprise systems, it becomes pertinent to
evaluate the environmental implications that result from such advanced systems. Two
emerging areas of interest include the growing need for computational resources and
energy-prohibitive architectures and their economics, impacts on carbon cost, and
energy consumption.
The installation and functioning of enterprise systems are computationally
intensive and involve extensive data storage and management capabilities,
subsequently, there is a need to incorporate hardware and infrastructure, for example,
servers, cooling facilities, and networking products that consume power. This increased
demand for computing resources means that the efficiency in terms of energy
consumption and greenhouse gas emissions may soar since these systems may draw
power from the electrical grid mostly from fossil power plants.
As organizations grapple for the ability to maximize the benefits accruing from
enterprise systems, this must be done to the extent of following the biblical mandate of
taking care of the environment. In this way, they can take full advantage of these
transformative technologies while at the same time keeping themselves sustainable with
the natural resources they need to sustain the unsustainable technologies while not
harming the earth which is God’s creation so that it won’t harm future generations.
Measures towards reducing the effects of enterprise systems on the environment
Although enterprise systems are efficient in driving business processes and
enterprise success, organizations have to appreciate their environmental impacts and,
therefore, integrate workable solutions for reducing the negative effects of these
technologies on the environment. Two strategies require more attention, namely the
integration of renewable energy systems and energy-efficient technologies, as well as
sustainable data management system strategies.
Initially, companies should relocate to enable the use of renewable resources like
solar energy, wind, or hydroelectric power in accomplishing the computer and other
facilities necessary to support their enterprise systems. This not only makes these
systems conserve carbon emissions but also fulfills the scriptures where it is said that
God wants those who believe in him to be good stewards of creation. Also, the
optimization of computational software by integrating power-saving technologies like
new generation hardware, and cooling mechanisms may help in conserving energy
used by those systems within an enterprise system.
Second, organizations should make efforts to implement sustainable practices to
manage big data with less detrimental effects of storage, processing, along transmitting
data. This can include the use of mechanisms that reduce the amount of data that has
to be stored and transmitted, such as data compression, efficient methods of storing
and accessing data, and the positioning of data centers in areas that are renewable
energy resources. In particular, by paying attention to all stages of the data
management lifecycle it is possible to reduce energy consumption and the carbon
footprint of enterprise systems.
Thus, through these mentioned coordinated initiatives, the different organizations
can efficiently nurture the potential of the enterprise systems and also fulfill their
stewardship responsibility to care for and preserve the environmental resources as he
commanded in the bible. By doing this, they can help in the global fight against
environmental issues as they seek to find solutions to some of the enormous problems
facing the world today and towards forging a new sustainable world.
The role of enterprise systems in enhancing sustainable business operations
In the current world, organizations are under pressure due to the environmental
consequences of enterprise business practices, and this makes it important for
enterprise systems to function as sustainability-enhancing tools. The strong
technological architectures could extend advanced tool-assisted support for managing
the conservation of the environment and extend institutionalized environmental
consciousness.
Business and operational systems, while able to gather, consolidate, and analyze
huge volumes of data, can also share with enterprises beneficial information on their
exerted amount of pressure on the environment and the effects of the performed
operations. Through such systems, leaders can thus be in a better position to
understand the most appropriate approach and potential funnel out wastage or misuse
of resources, and energy consumption amongst other sustainability projects. This
method provides a way for organizations to determine the significant factors that should
be enhanced, formulate measurable objectives that include environmental conservation,
and evaluate the success of those objectives.
However, integration of enterprise systems into a business can also contribute
significantly to the achievement of sustainable environmental goals within the business
organization. The issues of sustainability can be incorporated into the enterprise
system’s accessibility of descriptions and analyses of relevant factors, an action that
effectively promotes sustainability concerns among employees. This, in turn, can drive
greater levels of consideration and ownership from an organizational perspective, as
employees inform all levels of the organization and understand their part and
contribution in reducing the company’s environmental impact.
From a scriptural point of view, the idea of merging enterprise systems with
sustainable business initiatives complies with the belief in stewardship over the
resources God has given. The Psalmist declares, "The earth is the Lord's and the
fullness thereof" (Psalm 24:1), which shows the critical role that humans have in
protecting nature. Thus, by attempting to integrate enterprise systems and promote their
use in environmental conservation endeavors, organizations can indeed respond to this
divine call as well as support the general effort of preserving the environment for future
generations.
Societal Implications
Far-reaching consequences in society due to enterprise systems
The role and influence of enterprise systems remain pervasive and expand
beyond the business environment as they reshape organizations’ operations and roles
in society. Two topics of interest are the potential of such systems to use the data
gathered and analyzed to impact individuals and societies, and the ability of enterprise
systems to reinforce or worsen social injustices.
Collectively, the extensive and diverse information stored and analyzed within
enterprise systems can help organizations gain tremendous amounts of knowledge
about the people they serve and the potential weaknesses they may pose. Despite this
data potentially being used to increase efficiency in executing organizational activities,
raise standards provided, and generally meet customer needs, it has the potential to be
abused as a tool to control people. For instance, the use of enterprise systems can be
utilized to market and solicit goods and services to socially sensitive groups in society or
make some decisions that would otherwise perpetuate the result in job discrimination
based on nationality, gender, and disability among others.
Additionally, the adoption and installation of enterprise systems have the added
disadvantage of refreshing and cementing social inequities. The technology required for
these systems may include digital technologies, which may worsen healthcare
inequalities as these technologies may only be available to the affluent while the poor
and other underprivileged groups will not have access to these technologies. This may
increase the gap between individuals, who are connected to the new means of
communication, and those who are not, which may in turn worsen the social and
economic cleavages in society.
The biblical call to consider the well-being of others
The biblical concept of the impact of enterprise systems in society is thus based
on the spirit of stewardship of the common good and the recognition of the inherent
worth and rights of the human person. The prophet Micah reminds us that God requires
us "to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God" (Micah 6:8)
this call to think about the social significance of existence is a prerequisite of the
Christian attitude to ethics and should underpin the use of enterprise systems.
This is true based on the scriptures that also underscore certain standards to
maintain so as not to cause harm or to exploit others. The apostle Paul admonishes us
to "look not only to [our] own interests but also to the interests of others" (Philippians
2:4), a principle that should apply to enterprise systems as they are being built and
implemented.
Strategies for addressing the societal impacts of enterprise systems
To mitigate the societal impact of enterprise systems, it is therefore important
that organizations come up with an all-around strategy. This entails establishing the
frameworks within which the subject systems should be applied, as well as advocating
for regulation in these systems, and also working with the various stakeholders as well
as the society to understand the amounts of concern that are acceptable to them.
Currently, there are no proper guidelines and principles for analyzing data as well
as applying measures against discrimination and manipulation and protection of
individual rights and freedom of choice. It is recommended that these frameworks be
formulated with consultation from ethicists, community representatives, and subject-
matter specialists.
Also, implementers and facilitators need to ensure that enterprise systems, for
success, are associated with transparency and accountability. This may be in the form
of periodically providing information to the public on how the systems are benefiting or
affecting them, or in setting up procedures through which the public may report
complaints or seek redress.
The role of organizations in fostering positive societal change through the ethical
use of enterprise systems
It is by incorporating ethical and responsible usage of enterprise systems that
organizations can help bring about a noble change in society. This entails using the
strengths of these systems for the greater good, redressing social injustices and
people’s rights as well as recognizing and valuing everyone’s worth and value.
For instance, through the use of enterprise systems, the following ways may be
achieved: enhance sustainable community development; increase opportunity for the
provision of certain services to some selected groups; and enable equitable decisions to
be made. The reliance on enterprise systems for business management and decision-
making can be connected to the Scriptures’ message of justice and compassion,
allowing organizations to improve societal fairness.
Finally, one can assert that the social consequences of enterprise systems are
rather twofold: they are inclusiveness and exclusiveness at the same time. In so doing,
it becomes clear that organizations do not simply wish to prevent the myriad risks
associated with these systems, but are now actively seeking ways to use them in the
interests of developing a better, safer, and more secure world.
Conclusion
In pursuit of these objectives, and the context of this discussion as a whole, it is
critical to understand all of the ethical issues and impacts of enterprise systems that are
likely to influence society. On one hand, there is the risk of using data to reinforce
existing social injustices, and on the other, there is the question of how to ensure that
the individuals and communities that interact with these dynamic, sophisticated
technology platforms benefit and are protected in the process.
Therefore, as Christians, it becomes a problem to solve these ethical challenges
by looking at the issue through the framework provided by Christianity. The copyright
regulations are easy to understand and supported by the Scriptures that contain justice
and compassion principles as well as the value of human life. In this way, it became
possible to state and acknowledge the biblical foundations of ethical standards, expand
the potential of positive-orientation business systems, and end the use of approaches
that harm or take advantage of individuals or communities. This presupposes that one
should work on providing just and worthy goals for these technological wonders.
It will therefore require the cultivation of positive attitudes toward learning,
communication, or information sharing, and the building of proper ethical frameworks
through research and practice on the use of enterprise systems. As different
technologies are still in the process of appearing and developing, we have to be aware
of the ways those, systems could turn into a mechanism of abuse and become helpful
tools for people instead.
Therefore, the incorporation of the ethical principles of enterprise systems must
be based on worship and reverence for God and the sacredness of human beings and
their potential for the development of happiness. Thus, by accepting this vocation, it is
possible to reveal the redemptive approach to these systems and turn them into tools
for justice, mercy, and the healing of God’s creation.
