Timothy Harris
Timothy, I enjoyed reading your post. I liked your thoughts on how most people think that
analytic data is just something that is done through computer measures and not in other ways.
Yes, that is the primary way to use analytics, but it is not limited to just that. (Ahmed & Pathan,
2019). There are also many new forms of analytic data forming to provide better inside to new
information.
"The increasing role technology is playing in the education space may provide novel
solutions to this impediment. As students interact with the various learning technologies in their
course of study, they create digital traces that can be captured and analyzed. These digital traces
form the new kind of data that are frequently used in learning analytics to develop actionable
recommendations that can support student learning" (Pardo et al., 2019, p.128).
When I read this, it just reinforced to me that we need to stay up to date on what analytic
data there is for us to access and utilize within our own organizations. This new information can
influence things that we did not have data to influence in the past. This can lead to more
significant outcomes for us (Bartlett, 2013).
When we look at getting the best information from a biblical stance, we see that God
wants us to be gaining the best information. "To acquire wisdom is to love yourself; people who
cherish understanding will prosper" (Proverbs 19:8, New Living Translation). We want to do our
best in all aspects of our lives. When we lean on God and what he wants for us, we will thrive in
work, home and our relationship with our faith.

Arraud, first thank you for your service. I am a proud granddaughter of a Medal of Honor
recipient. I enjoyed reading your post. I think your example of how women in the military are
allowed to style their hair is great at showing that the data we will get sometimes in our work
environment is not just numbers and charts (Ahmed & Pathan, 2019). The things we are going to
have to navigate in the workplace can vary from one extreme to another. If it is not just numbers
data does not mean it is not still important data. Looking at the analytics of how the decisions
were made in the past and how they need to be used in the changing world is always a good step.
One thing I thought interesting was that the demographic of female soldiers, sailors, airmen, and
marines has not exactly changed but the understanding of them has, is what moved the change to
happen (Oliveira & Handfield, 2022). That decision making had data to support it and was put
into action was a good step in understanding an analytical situation (Bartlett, 2013).
Biblical Tie In
When we get data that is not traditional, we want to make sure we still use it. "Getting wisdom is
the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment" (Proverbs 4:7,
New Living Translation). With the wisdom, we receive from any analytical data making the most
of it will be wise. This is what God's plan has for us and we should try to follow.
