FAITH INTEGRATION PAPER: IMPACTS OF INAPPROPRIATE DATA GATHERING
Abstract
In the business world today, companies can be very competitive with each other. They want to be
the best, make the most money and have the most customers. Having tools to help with the
decision making is an essential part of businesses. Ensuring that the data that is collected is
reliable data is essential to aid in the decision making. If the data is faulty in its collection, it can
lead to bigger consequences for a company. A company that collects bad data can lead to losing
customers, losing profits and, moving the company towards its goals. Using Christian values can
be a wise thing in collecting data. Having Christian values with data collection can also help
leadership in making decisions for the company.

For companies to be successful in the contemporary world of business need to make sure
they are making good decisions for the company. Companies that use strategic decision-making
as one of their tools for problem solving can stay competitive with their company. The data that a
company collects will need to be quality because it will directly affect the decision making
process (Snitz et al., 2019). Looking at the track record of a company can also predict how good
a company is at making essential decisions by how much they make sure the data is quality. A
company will fail if they do not pay attention to the data, they collect to make its decisions with.
It is crucial for companies to establish methods of getting data that are efficient and will
enable applicability, quality and consistency for the data received. When a Christian leader adds
Christian principles to how they conduct themselves at work, it can lead to great outcomes in the
data collection method. Using these principles can lead to the assembling of valid information
that can then affect the decisions that are going to be made in the company. A crucial part of a
company is the collection of data (Ahmed & Khan Pathan, 2019). If it is a Christian leader using
their Christian principles, the data they will get will be trustworthy and help with the decision
making for the company.
Consequences of Bad Data Gathering
Suppose a company takes shortcuts or unreliable methods to the gathering of the data
they will use for decisions making. In that case, it will lead to damage to the company and
possibly not be repairable. When the incorrect decisions are made in a company using the data
they gathered, it typically is because the data that was gathered was flawed. When this happens,
it can lead to the goals not being met for the company. When a company keeps making decisions

with faulty data and the goals are not being completed, this will have long term effects and could
have substantial consequences.
If a company keeps using the data that has been gathered incorrectly, it will impact the
company's finances. When a company make decisions with incorrect data information, it will in
turn, raise the cost of doing business (Datnow & Park, 2019). The effect can be seen in areas like
supplies. If the data used for what the demand for supplies is, the company could not order
enough, can slow sales or order too much, which will then have the company sitting on an asset
that they are not using (Mandinach, 2022). This miss management of supplies is avoidable if the
company is making sure they are using data that has been checked for its reliability.
If a company is not able to meet the needs of its customers, that will have a negative
effect on the company. They will lose the direct customer, but they are at risk of losing others
because of word of mouth. One of the most valuable assets of a company is its customers.
"Customer satisfaction and loyalty and helps maintain strong customer relations" (Tang &
Gekara, 2018, p. 385). When a strong customer relationship is kept and is maintained well, it is a
profitable asset for the company. A healthy customer relationship can also bring in more
customers and bring a competitiveness to the company in its field. For a business to get and
keep, a competitive advantage is because the data the company uses to make choices pertaining
to the customers is reliable. If this is not done, a company, over time, will fail to meet its goals
and needs for the customers and will fail.
As stated before, when a business customers are not happy with a company, they may
bring more harm to the company by letting others in their circles know their dissatisfaction with
the company and be influenced by it. When this happens, it can make it difficult for a company
to win their customers back and new ones. That will have an effect on their profits. When bad

data is used to make decisions for a company, its reputation is at stake. With these kinds of
problems that can happen with the use of bad data and customer satisfaction, companies should
make sure they are employing the best tools to gather data.
Christian Values
If Christian leaders use Christian principles to collect their data, it should be quality and
provide good decision making for the company. In the Bible, Jesus showed kindness and
distinction many times over. Jesus told his people to give honor to God in everything they do
(Merida, 2015). A person's success can be gauged on how well they abide by guidelines given to
complete a task. If Christian leaders use their Christian principles with empathy and honor in
their work and the collection of data, they will lead by example, and more than likely, the data
will be reliable. If the ways to collect data are efficient and are done with honor, it can be a cost
saving to the company (Bartlett, 2013). Companies need to find ways to include Christian values
if they can to make sure they are going to be successful.
Conclusion
Data collection is a vital part of a company's success. Having Christian principles applied
to the data collection can help with ensuring that the data that is collected is useful and can aid in
decision making for the company. The application of Christian principles can aid in avoiding the
collection of bad data that can lead to bigger consequences like profit losses, not achieving goals
and a poor reputation with customers. When Christian values are applied in the workplace, it can
improve the company's longevity and lead to the best decision making.
