DECISION-MAKING
Abstract
In the workplace, correct decision-making is important. When making decisions in the
workplace, there are many different techniques to use to make well informed decisions. All
methods are not suitable for all decisions that need to be made. The techniques need to be
evaluated for a specific decision and applied in order to produce the best outcome. The
stakeholder theory technique is ideal for some small nonprofits with a focused mission.
Stakeholders look at all affected by what decision needs to be made in the organization. Taking
into consideration all of the stakeholders when making a decision will not always make everyone
happy. They will lead with the answer that will benefit the majority. However, the game theory
technique is not a technique that would lend help to small nonprofits with a focused mission to
decision-making. Game theory could be useful when a significant amount of data is needed in
the decision-making.

Decision-Making
Introduction
In a management position, there are always decisions that need to be made. Sometimes
there are crucial decisions to be made, and the process of how the decision is made needs to be
heavily considered. Furthermore, a Christian approach should be included in the decision-
making as well. There needs to be a balance between making good decisions and keeping a good
moral standing (Kretzschmar,2020). For successes on a personal level and a company level,
these decisions should be considered thoughtfully. "So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you
do, do it all for the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31, New Living Translation). People should
be doing something as simple as eating or drinking for God's glory. Managers need to ensure the
decisions they are making in life are also for God's glory.
The Problem
An organization that's mission is to provide "God's word in every sign language" (Deaf
Bible Society, 2021) recently was searching for a new chief executive officer (CEO). Hiring at
that level for any company is a laborious and careful process. The unique situation they ran into
for the search of a new CEO does not only encompass the typical requirements of experience and
education. The new CEO needs to have expert knowledge of the Bible, the Deaf community, and
sign language as well as possessing education and experience for the position. The requirements
the organization listed narrowed the applicant pool down. Once candidates had been compiled, it
was essential to determine the best way to decide the most qualified candidate, which needs to be
done carefully.

A stakeholders analysis approach is to look at all the people or aspects that the decision
can affect or will affect. In the process of decision-making, each of the stakeholders should be
taken into consideration. One other thing to take into consideration is if there are any
"stakeholders who participated in the decision-making" (Wu et al., 2020).
The Game theory technique is a "mathematical modeling of rational agents and is used
for analyzing various situations where conflict of interests between two or more agents is present
and tries to find proper decision-making strategy" (Kamenjarska et al., 2020). The Game theory
technique would be a good technique for large companies with a lot of data needing to be
involved in the decision-making processes.
Stakeholder Analysis
This organization should remember 2 John 1:8 "Watch out that you do not lose what we
have worked so hard to achieve" (2 John 1:8, New Living Translation) to keep the momentum
they have achieved. The stakeholder analysis is the best technique for small nonprofits with a
narrow focus and a particular underserved group. In this situation, the stakeholders to consider
are:
The organization's staff.
Volunteers.
The people that benefit from their services.
The donors that give to the organization.
The communities they serve.
The other nonprofits they have partnerships with.
With some of the candidates for the new CEO position being internal, the staff should be a
considered a source for input on who would be good in the position as a leader. The employees

would be directly affected by who is chosen as CEO. Also, they have worked with the internal
candidates and can speak to their leadership and management styles, techniques, and potentials.
The partnerships with other nonprofits are also good source to look to for information on the
internal candidates. Going to the community the organization serves and learning what they think
is needed in the new CEO will also provide a perspective of what the former CEO was doing
well and what needed to be improved. For the kind of organization it is, the communities they
serve, and with the specific requirements related to their stakeholders, an internal candidate
would be an excellent fit. An internal candidate has already demonstrated they know sign
language, the Bible, and the Deaf community, which was initially a requirement to work for the
organization. "Stakeholders can have a significant influence on decision-making" (Wu et al.,
2020). In this scenario, stakeholders do, and this decision-making style would be an excellent
choice to decide who the new CEO should be. When the stakeholders are satisfied, the
organization can run smoothly and have more success (Qazi et al., 2021).
Conclusion
When a company is making a decision, there are several ways to go about it, and that
needs to be considered. It does not matter if it is a substantial or small decision; there is always a
process. For the example of picking a new CEO for a nonprofit, the right decision-making
technique needs to be chosen. Overall, when looking to the Bible, there are many examples of
how to make good choices and input that should be sought out in order to make the right
selection. "For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding"
(Proverbs 2:6, New Living Translation). Leaders should guard that wisdom and use it in their
decision-making process.
