Emojis in Business, Question 4
The advice I would give would depend on the kind of business and the niche market
being targeted. For the sake of answering this question, however, I will assume that the company
is seeking to venture into the Food and Beverage Industry. For such a company, I would
encourage the internal stakeholders to make use of emojis and informal language in general.
Emojis facilitate the expression of emotions. According to Choi, SHim, & Kim (2023),
individuals articulate themselves a lot better whenever the use images than is the case if they rely
on plain text. Emojis avail an opportunity to convey varied nuances, and hence the clarity of the
message in question can be enhanced. The audience can understand exactly what will happen
when they consume the products in question (Al-Rawi et al., 2020; Das, 2017).
Emojis add creativity to the interactions which parties are having. Therefore, the
messages being shared become more captivating than if these symbols were not used. Typically,
the use of emojis is typically appreciated by the millennial and individuals in Generation Z.
Together, these two groups account for 42 per cent of the population (Mladenović et al., 2022).
Therefore, a start-up company ought to make emojis a central feature of its communication with
the audience because of the high number of people they are bound to reach and impress.
The expression shared in the emojis tends to have the same meaning across cultures. The
population of a country like the US is constituted of individuals from diverse backgrounds. In
many cases, words from one language may not have a universal meaning. This challenge is
overcome when emojis are used because most people interpret them the same way. For instance,
a happy face depicts happiness in all cultures. People from varied backgrounds interpret a sad
face to mean sadness, and hence emojis are a universal language in and of themselves (Das,
3
2017; Mladenović et al., 2022). It would be ill-advised for a start-up company to ignore all these
benefits.
Biblical Integration
This exercise is about communication, and Christians are allowed to spice the way they
interact with each other as long as they do not engage in such vices as lies, manipulation, and
slander (Romans 1:30; 2 Timothy 2:16-18). In Colossians 4:6, the Bible teaches that we should
always employ gracious charm which is well seasoned with wit (The Holy Bible, New
International Version, 1984). This is the whole essence of using emojis in business. It is part of
the charm offensive to win and retain clients. In my view, a start-up should make use of emojis.
The practice is in-line with Biblical teachings, and it is bound to overcome the challenges
associated with the use of plain text.
