Where will you locate your business? Why? Provide details to support your decision.
Location is significant for opening up a business and the business's expectations to thrive and be
highly successful. "Even in an age where people can buy and sell through the internet and project
teams can collaborate from various states and countries, location plays a significant role in your
company's success or failure" (Sherman, 2019). The location of the Classic Collection will be
located in Atlanta, Ga area, specifically the Buckhead region. The Buckhead region is known
where the luxury boutiques are located, and the traffic is weighty within the region. Many would
agree that Atlanta, GA, has become a fashion-forward district over the last ten years. Allen
(2020) highlights the importance of the location of a business and the different types of facilities
that are available to choose from regarding the business operations (p. 185). Millions of people
have noticed the culture within Atlanta especially being huge in the entertainment industry,
including music, fashion, and art. "Atlanta is bursting with culture. From its dining scene to its
breakout performers and tech landscapes, Atlanta is on the map – and other big cities are paying
attention” (Cox, 2019). The Classic Collection boutique will be located in Buckhead Atlanta,
leading the fashion industry and expanding within different cities.
Will you lease, buy, build?
The Classic Collection will be a storefront store located within a plaza or shopping center. With
this ideal, it is best to lease a building or shop. Leasing a shop will provide flexibility regarding
the business and the expansion to open different locations. Reddigari (2019) highlights equity as
an advantage of leasing a storefront space, taking an ownership stake in the property, which
would grow as the lease is being paid. Understanding the role of leasing storefront deals with the
idea of expanding the Classic Collection from one store to multiple stores in different locations
besides Atlanta, GA.
How will you organize your organizational business chart?
Since the Classic Collection will be a small business boutique, I think the owner will play a vital
role in the majority of the business attributes. The purpose of establishing an organizational chart
comes with displaying hierarchy within the business. In terms of organizational charting, the
owner is in charge of hiring a team of people dedicated to providing quality service and a quality
customer service experience. Allen (2020) notes this idea of an organizational chart because the
owner is the primary leader while a host of other relationships will further the network (p. 184).
What will employment laws be the most important for you to consider?
The Classic Collection will be considered a retailer, so it is essential to follow all employment
laws subjected by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division and Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission. Staying in compliance with these federal laws while
governing a retail store is extremely important.
How will employees be compensated?
Employees working at the Classic Collection will be compensated by an hourly wage and
commission, giving the products we sell additional revenue. Not only will employees make an
hourly wage, but they will also be able to enroll in the Classic Collection benefits programs that
include health insurance and a share of the boutique.
How will you manage quality – in either your service or product?
One of the foundational aspects of the Classic Collections is quality. Quality is essential when it
comes to products and services. As the owner of the Classic Collection, the team and I will
manage quality regarding our products by the feedback we receive and but having trial and error
when it comes to the creation of clothing products. In terms of services, the most important thing
is for the customer to have a quality customer service experience. Since the Classic Collection
was created via for the love and care of people, we must show those attributes when dealing with
customers, our family.
Discuss the pros and cons of outsourcing in your industry.
Outsourcing plays a vital role in the supply chain process when it comes to the retail industry.
Many retailers would agree that fulfillment is vital to the success of any retail business. Although
it is highly crucial, it is not the best part of the business, especially dealing with multiple
departments regarding fulfillment. Since online orders are leading the way, the fulfillment
process has become complexed. "While the order fulfillment department of your cross-channel
retail business is not the sexiest or most fun, it is arguably one of the most important" (Retail
Online Integration Staff, 2011). The Classic Collection will take part in outsourcing given the
need and understanding of products and services.
Key Issues in Supply Chain Management
Since the Classic Collection is a retail business, supply management is crucial. Managing the
supply chain deals with online orders and connecting with manufacturers who focus on quality.
As a result, the Classic Collection will create orders and have them shipped out promptly.
Biblical Concepts
The foundation of the Classic Collection is built on the understanding of God’s love which will
show within the business customer service. Jeremiah 31:3 “ The Lord appeared to him from far
away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to
you” (Bibleway, 2021).
