SUMMARY JOURNAL 2
Abstract
No matter the industry, leadership concepts remain the same. Teams still form in the same
manner, conflicts still arise; the difference is in the way leaders handle the situations and this is
based on their style and model of leadership. This can change over time and fluctuate based on
the situation currently being faced however it is important to note that in order to lead other and
organizations you must be able to lead yourself first. A person has to have self-awareness and
self-management, because this is symbiotic to maintain social awareness and relationship
management.

Levant Ministries
Authentic Leadership
One principle that Dr. Abraham noted as on of their tenants was to “establish trust”,
because for Levant’s mission, trust is a critical component. They are dealing with sensitive issues
for many individuals, and in some cases, it is illegal to even practice the Christian faith or to
congregate. So, facilitating this environment of trust start from the top, it comes from the
leadership, it comes from authentic leadership. What is important to note that research has found
that servant leadership and authentic leadership are not the same thing, Dr. Abraham is an
authentic leader which is enabling an environment that is further producing servant leaders.
Research has found “Servant leadership has a direct, positive effect on individual organizational
commitment and work engagement. Unlike the influence path of servant leadership, authentic
leadership does not correlate directly with employee attitudes (i.e., organizational commitment
and work engagement), but indirectly through trust climate” (Ling et al., 2016, p. Theoretical
Implications).
