Abstract
Leadership is described as a process in which someone tries to motivate subordinates to achieve
a common goal. Effective leadership is important to an organization's success and successful
organizations have proven to hire satisfied staff. Leadership styles have a significant impact on
employees, and it is important to understand the difference between the type of leadership style
that is used and how it affects the performance of employees and satisfaction in the business
sector. The leadership styles that are focused on in this essay are autocratic, democratic,
transformational, laisse-faire and charismatic leadership. Each style has a different result that
affects performance and job satisfaction differently.
