Abstract
The present study experimentally investigated the factors that are essential to creating
organizational vision. Individual differences were found to play an important role in determining the
degree of influence that a leader exerts during the process of organizational vision creation.
Organizational vision plays a central role in uplifting and motivating employees in the workplace. A
leader's ability to create this shared vision is often a crucial determinant of a successful work
environment. A person's personal characteristics, such as their level of cognitive ability, served as a
mediator between their perception of their leader's personal characteristics and their perception of the
leader's ability to lead them toward a visionary goal. Leaders should not engage in creating an
organizational vision without first considering the characteristics of their followers, many of which will
influence the extent to which they embrace this vision. Types of power, leadership styles, trait theories,
and behavior theories all come into play in ascertaining the value a leader holds over his/her group.
Highly conscientious employees are more interested in their leader's goals and visions, while less
conscientious employees are not.
